hi everybody,
according to the rules of this forum it's ok to ask about how to setup a dreambox to share a card..so thats my question..
asking is one thing - to get an answer may be harder :-gnome

do i need software..?
24 hrs broadband and static ip is ok..

Asking for setup help is ok - soliciting for cardshares & membership is a no-no.

As Dig Deep says, depends on what you have and what you want. Many card share rings are reciprocal, each member brings a sub card to the party, some are single card sharing, where one member buys a sub card and the others chip in.

There are also commercial rings, have seen a couple advertised on web sites, but in my opinion, they are destined for closure.

If all you want to do is share one card amongst you own DBs on a home network, then one of our members here is already doing this and can probably talk you through it.

Yeah I would stay away from any commercial stuff, bound to be trouble. Start off figuring out local sharing if you have a couple of boxes, or if not with a mate to get the hang of it. I would also go with the easiest method first, and then work your way up, but it depends on what card your sharing.

I would also recommend keeping away from anyone who wants you to pay a monthly fee to join ... the reciprocal method is pretty good, like rolfw points out ... here you can end up with access to any number of cards , pretty much everything thing you could ever think of ...

weigh up your risks depending on what you are sharing, where from, and who to ... eg, if you are sharing a $ky card in Austria, to people in Norway then there is not much chance anyone in your locality will care ... if ,however, you are sharing the same card in London to other guys in UK then people could very well take an interest in what you are doing ....

perhaps a good philosophy is only share a card which cannot be legally purchased in the country which you are living ...

its still quiet a grey issue, as nobody has been prosecuted for this yet (as far as i know ..)

From a software point of view, I would recommend g8ox. Another option is Newcamd, but that will eat bandwidth on your net connection. try to get your own card working first with g8ox, the try and share to a friend.

you can PM me if you need help.

thx for your inputs guys :-)
i have a dm7020s
a friend on a dm7000 has a card from abroad (hhmm..?) - and we would like to try out if we can share that one.. only between us - not for commercial use..
we would like to dig deeper into the possibilities of these 'fantastic machines'..
i only have one box in-house - which leaves me with no possibility of testing it out in-house..therefore my friend and i have talked about trying this cardshare out between us..
so this is our base - from here we would need input and directions from you guys..

Plenty of info on how card sharing work on the forum. Use the search function and go rootling.
