"Cannot" is a bit strong, but it is true to say the results will depend upon the skill of the installer to a large extent.

The shape, for example, is unlike proper dishes and the Sky LNBs have a feedhorn shaped that matches the unique dish shape.

So, if you hang some sort of offset LNB on it, which would probably be a proper Universal LNB, there will be reduced efficiency and a lot of fiddling would be required.

It depends as well upon the separation angle and the strength of the signal from the target Satellite on the offset etc.

It depends on what sats are wanted. 19e and 28e may be possible, the dish is big enough to get the separation.

1. I want 13 E Hotbird for Russian channels.

2. Is there an offaxis LNB holder for standard SKY dishes also? I could not find one yet.

Why SKY has made a different shape dish from rest of the Europe? Why we Brits make some things so different, for example: driving on the opposite side of the road.? :D

1. Spread is almost certainly too great - but you could try

2. No - but you should be able to adapt/modify a simple generic arm to do the job

eg eBay Item # 310205423845

No there isn't. You would have to adapt an existing one, 13e and 28e is possible here on a zone 2.

Well an existing arm can be adapted, but the current LND holder looks so fragile, and plasticy!

But How about using those LNB holders which can give separation of 20 degrees?

You are right robbo, but the products on the ebay does not specify if they can be used for sky zone 2 dishes or not.
That is why I wanted good knowledge from the forum before I climb up the ladder.

Ive not done a 28e +13e on a zone 2 for a few years now, and can't remember what I used. Usually for this type of thing I'd have a look on eBay and see what is available or can be adapted, then have a play with and see what seems robust enough and works.

Both satellites will be weaker up in Scotland than in London and the Zone 2 dish might be a bit of a push to get both sats without loss of signal in poor weather.

The best solution would be to have a dish for Hot Bird.
The 60 cm dish is too small for the side bar slution.
( as you will only get the signal from part of the 60 cm dish).
You will loose a lot of signal and get no image or pixilated ones when it it gets clowdey.
A stand alone 75-80cm dish would give you superiour results.

As for the diseqC,
If you have 4 dishes, a simple 1 x 4 output commited diseqc switch in a plastic casing outside would be the ideal solution.
If you have more than 4 dishes,
you can either use 1 x 8 output diseqC switch (set as uncommited),
or 2x 4 output diseqc switches connect through a relay switch.

In all cases, only one cable run is needed into the house.

Quite a lot, probably >>> See Captain Jack's response and also your own earlier comment about what you'd been told about using 60cm for this purpose in Scotland (a country some 200 miles further North).

If you look at all the Posts so far, you will see that the entirely positive remarks come from members down South, the cautionary ones are from Yorkshire and the negative one was your own hearsay at Post #20 ( ............."especially in Scotland")

A bit OT, but actually the Brits drive on the correct side of the road, other nations drive on the opposite side :D:D

I have pulled mine, and my cat's hair trying to find an "uncommitted switch". I give up. Is there any other name for it?

I've had a trawl back through what was advised when I was setting up my own multisat dishes. I stand to be corrected but committed switches are DisEqc 2.0 and uncommitted DisEqc 1.1 or less. I have four dishes with 16 LNB's feeding four 4/1 Vantage uncommitted switches, which in turn feed into a Spaun 420F (4/1) committed switch in Mode1. Maybe you should try a search for DisEqc 1.1 switches.

Try looking for SUR 220 F / SUR 220 WSG from Spaun - the F is for internal use and the WSG for weatherproof use.

Diseqc 1.0 switches are committed as well. Diseqc 2.0 is the same as diseqc 1.0 but with the addition of bi-directional communication.

Yes I agree, search for diseqc 1.1

Search for that on eBay and there's one for about £10 fom hong kong.

The emp centauri, 8 way switch sold by te 2 site sponsors already mentioned can operate in uncommitted diseqc 1.1 mode too.
