Sky+ HD, a personal video recorder service of Sky, has been around for 10 years now. To celebrate a decade of giving users the ability to record their favorite TV programs, the digital satellite broadcaster has recently commissioned the released of new 1TB Sky+ HD boxes designed by several high-profile designers such as Matthew Williamson.
When asked regarding his design, the English fashion designer said: "This is a print I have taken from my new SS12 collection; the collection had a slight Japanese influence, notable here in the cut out areas of the Tokyo skyline visible within the distorted floral motifs”
He also added "I wanted the edges to appear neon and light-phased and have recoloured my original print in electric blue with a synthetic mint green contrast to emphasize this effect of blurred illumination".
Williamson isn’t the only one adding a fresh new-look to the black recorders. There are other limited edition boxes with designs coming from some big names in the British fashion industry, such as: Cecilia Birtwell, Richard Nicoll, Julie Verhoeven, and Farrow & Ball.
Hilary Perchard, Sky’s director of product management said "We're really excited about working with such a high-profile selection of designers to celebrate ten years of Sky+. These designs will really stand out in our customers' homes”.
If you’re interested in upgrading the old black box to a stylish and colorful new one, you can check out Sky’s website at https://designerbox.sky.com/?DCMP=BAC-designerboxes. Existing customers will pay £49 to upgrade to the HD pack, while new clients should expect to pay £149 for signing up with the HD pack.
