Hi all,

Just got my DM800 set up but having some problem. When I select certain channels (seems to be all of the ones with symbol rate 29500000)... the box crashes and restarts itself.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I thought it might be the LNB myself?

Hi Guys,

I had a similar problem with a clone DM800. It would reboot on any DVBs2 channel, but work on DVB channels. I left it on a DVB channel overnight (BBC HD on Astra 28.2) and all the other HD channels worked (more or less) after that. However, the box won't boot at all now unless I remove the tuner (I also bought a replacement tuner but that didn't help). I've now bought a genuine DM800 and it works perfectly!

I have this same problem.

1st noticed it on Sky Sports HD1

Only appears to reboot on HD channels, mainly encrypted ones.

I have tried.....

New PSU
New Cable/LNB
New virgin image (Reboots during scan)
Everthing unplugged except sat and power.

Please help, it is a BTZ clone.

Theres a common theme appearing here - cloned DM800.

Get rid of it and buy a proper one and your problems should disappear according to post #8

Hi Guys,

Wise words from Analoguesat! Best thing I did was buy a genuine DM800, as the clone version was driving me crazy! The genuine version works perfectly, although I must admit I occasionally dig out the clone box and try to get it working. At one time I was convinced I had downloaded some sort of update which made the clone think I had a different tuner version. However, for what it's worth, I now think the problem is caused by cheap components on the motherboard. I read a thread on a Chinese forum about people with tuner problem. Some peoploe seem to have had success after changing some capacitors and transistors on the motherboard and tuner. However, as Analoguesat said, you're better off with the genuine article!

Regards,
GAH

My theory is this - if its running close to its cheaply built tolerance levels during normal operations then the extra bandwidth involved in running scrambled channels on SR 29500 transponders might be enough to tip it over the edge.

The picture quality alone on a genuine 800 is fair more superior than any clone.
