Hmm, I will have to await news. I wonder what's unusual about it? :confused

Code:
Thanks for your enquiry which has been passed to me.

Yes, we can offer the PPA actuator however this particular one is special in some way that is not obvious to me.

I will therefore need to ask Thomson in Sweden, who in turn will have to approach Thomson in the US to get price and availability.

This may very well take a couple of days or more.

I’ll get back to you as soon as I hear from them.

Best regards,

I would ask them what they have in stock that's suitable for satellite , if it has to come from over the water you can put £150 ish on top of the price of the actuator.

HMMM........£778.13

Probably better to buy a £50 one, replace it every 2 years for the next 30 years

The Venture actuators are a lot cheaper than that.

Agree MB. We did a group buy some time back from Ricks Satellite in the USA. He managed to get Venture to ship direct from the factory saving the postage to him, so we cut one lot of postage out. Might be worth an enquiry to Rick?

For some reason 18" ones seem hard to come by and more expensive. I just don't have the clearance between the bracket and the floor for anything longer without losing some east positions.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Could you change the lever/pivot point at either end of the travel ?

It's the physical distance between the floor and the dish is the problem. It is fitted upside down and the pole was cut accordingly so I can't raise it any higher for more ground clearance.

Not without digging 4ft down and excavating the concrete and fitting a new pole. It's not long enough to fit it the right was up.
Photobucket have disabled my links, I'll post a pic of what I mean when I get home from work. I appreciate any ideas really.

drats,

Look out for a second hand Jaeger 1224 H to H motor. It will give you a full East/West arc and requires no clearance at the back like an actuator does. A Jaeger 1224 can easily cope with a small dish such as a Gibertini 1.5m. Plus, a Jaeger 1224 will last a lot longer than one of the cheaper actuators, I have a Jaeger 1224 that has been operational for around 20 years and it still works OK.

If you cannot locate a second hand Jaeger 1224 motor, the alternative option would be a Moteck H180 motor. They are available new and will provide a full East/West arc without needing the rear clearance of an actuator.

drats,

You can extend your existing pole without having to replace it. There is a topic with pictures on the forum from myself and "Captain Jack" covering the fabrication of a pole cap adapter. Often they are used to downsize or upsize a pole diameter but they can also be used to extend an existing pole and keep the same diameter.

Just Sharing This - 4.5" to 3" Pole Adapter

You should be able to find someone local to you with the fabrication skills to make a pole extender for you if you do not have the tools yourself. I included a specification drawing in the above topic that can be used as a starting point.

I've offered drats a brand new one, he thinks it wont cope with his 1.5, I didn't want to be pushy for a sale so left it at that,

I also have a 27/29 inch heavy duty actuator over 20yrs old that I bought from Martin who was a member here at some point, this particular one was only fitted for testing a dish it has a few scratches apart from that its brand new, its a quality one and will last for years, I want £400 for the brand new 1224 and £200 for the actuator.

@blademedia

If that actuator is a ball screw type then it sounds decent value at a deuce, quite a bit cheaper than importing one from the USA.
Unfortunately for "drats", it would be too long for the restricted clearance he has at the rear of his dish.

A Jaeger 1224 will easily cope with a 1.5m dish, no problem at all. I think that some forum members have had Channel Master 1.8m dishes on "beefed up" Jaeger 1224 motors and the CM 1.8m dish is a lot more heavy and has more wind load than a Gibertini 1.5m dish.

There is a current forum topic covering the installation of a Gibertini 1.5m dish on a Moteck H180 motor. If a Moteck H180 motor can take a Gibertini 1.5m dish then a Jaeger 1224 motor certainly can.
