Finally been able to source a large dish for c/ku band ... its an Andrews 2.4 but needs a polar mount. Anyone know where I can get one from , I am hoping to modify and add an inclined actuator?

Satellite Super Store probably have it but it will cost an arm and a leg.

If you going to modify standard polar-mount anyway, than start from "0" - order production of custom-designed polar-mount from some metal workshop.

had a similar thing once when i thought i,d bought a 1.2 c.m. -- when i turned up to collect it was a 1.0 metre
but bought it anyway - as it was a full motorised system + an extra 60 metres of unused coax + motor + polariser cable all for a bargain price :) -- managed to pick up a 1.2 dish face a few months later - so it all worked out well in the end :D --------

don,t know if the bolt hole spacing is the same on the 2.4 - as it is on the 1.8 -- ? i suspect it is

i know the 1.0 metre and 1.2 dish faces can be interchanged on the smaller polar mount

cheers ---

Hole spaces are different on the dish. 1.2m and 1m are interchangeable though.

So I will need to build plate for it. Suppose the real issue for me is whether thw Jaegar can handle a Andrews 2.4 dishand support feed arms.. Anyone have any thoughts if Jaegar mount can cope with an Andrews 2.4?

Theres a few satellites in inclined orbit invluding 8w 40e and 38e. I think it gives you a liitle bit more scope for active feed hunting.

Luckily I got covered by paypal. The bloke asked me if I still wanted at half the price I paid for it. Still lesson learnt ... on a serious note there is a Jaegar 1224 mount available for sale in the classfields. Really thinking about bidding for it but not sure whether this can handle an Andrewz 2.4m dish and feed arms.

I don't think it was designed for use with a dish that size but it might work, the question is how long it would last.. The SMR-1224 is of sturdy build but the 2.4M dish is quite heavy. Where have you got it sited? You need to take into account problems with heavy, or even moderate, winds.
It might be worth having a look at other members 2.4M channel master dishes, and their motor set ups. I'm not sure how you would get the dish to fit the motor. What are the measurement, of the distance between the bolts, on the 2.4M dish?

The dish will have some wind shelter ad it surrounded by house and lots of trees. However, it will be quite high up. Ill check the distance measurements between bolts.

I have the 1.2M dish, which the adapter plate is designed for, and the measurements are as in the picture:

There's no birds at any of those locations that are inclined mate to my knowledge. But I understand the thinking. 40E was emptied of all traffic few weeks ago.

I have moved some posts, from the classifieds section, and merged it with this thread. The classified section isn't really for this type of discussion.
Hopefully you can make sense of the two separate discussions.
