Channel Master 2.4m galore

This is the back-up downlink site for national telecom operator (cable/IP/wireless). Feeds gathered are from European as well as middle-east packages.

By no means a self-install. Just wanted to share pics of a very nice pro installation, with 7 Channel Master 240s using Global Invacom fibre-optic LNBs (FibreMDUs). All dishes mounted on steel framework bolted to flat roof. Must have cost a fortune to install. And required a bit of crane-lifting to put up.

Although highly desirable, it would most likely not fly on my home roof (although flat too) ... probably not even fit there!

They have used the Receive/transmit version of the dish (different boom arm) for a receive only system. The procuring agent and accountants could have saved maybe $3k by using the lower spec model.

I'm also a bit surprised there is rust already on the reflector and Az/El stand bolts. How long has this installation been in place ?

They dont look to be steerable so why so many pointing at the same source ?
perhaps they are phase matched to produce one massive signal ..but thats doubtful.
But you never know.

Yes, I agree. Struck me as interesting too. But I think it may have to do with the general sturdiness requirement for the installation. It is, after all, the back-up downlink for 1.2M tv customers, and exposed to the elements on top of a six-storey building, so a couple of $k may not have been that important when designing the installation.

Rusting bolts: That was my first thought too (after "Cool! I want one!)".
The installation is about 4 years old.
But it doesn't surprise me. Every single Channel Master dish I've had my hands on had rusty bolts for the reflector mount.
That goes for most of the other bolts too, only one or two central bolts seem to be made properly from Brass or INOX (e.g. inclination control on polar mounts).
First things I do these days when I get a CM is to change all the fastening bolts. Not sure why CM/ASC/Skyware would want to skimp on the nuts and bolts - they are by far the commonest (and cheapest) elements in the package!

Exactly. IIRC, they're spanning approx 30W to 19.2E.
But I will check with the guys who run the downlinks next week.
VS: No phase-matching here. It's just an ordinary telco... ;)

The eighth dish - steerable 2.4m Channel Master.

Same roof, other side of building.

Never seen anything like this mount before. Circular actuator? Closest thing i've seen to actutor was old American C-band dish stuff. But the steel configuration??

As with others (fixed) using an Invacom fibre LNB.
And again with an Rx/Tx feed-arm option.
But also with de-icing option. (Just to be sure!)

Mainly used for testing purposes. Most recently for 4K feeds AFAIK.
