I bought my dish second hand and it did not come with any LNB holder..I had to make the plate and the feed holder myself for Ku band reception..

About the plate. Someone told me they actually made one from plexiglass so signals pass thru and in turn create less of a shadow. Any thoughts ?

Also, I realy like my digibox ( no comments ) but I would also like to be able to motorize the dish. Any suggestions regarding the setup. i.e could I have say a twin LNB and have one output on my digibox for when it's pointing ASTRA and use the other output with a FTA receiver to control the motor ??

Hello Iceman!
what,is the maximal water pressure,that is alowed,to clean the antenna,is 100 Bahr presure,to much?
or,could i also use a hot steam cleaner,to remove the dirt,from surface,of the 3m channel master?
i have fear to destroy something, when water pressure is to high..

Hi Turok
I am sorry for not replying back to your last PM.I have been very busy lately..
I used a pressure cleaner with 100bar to clean the dish and it was perfectly OK.
if you have any doubts, use lower pressure or try cleaning from a distance first..
The rear surface is where the dirt accumulates and high pressured water cleans it nicely..But remember not to get wet in the process because fiberglass particles removed from the back surface of the dish are painfull if the dry on your skin...

The dish is fiberglass and i am very pleased with the performance...
Let me know if you need any assembling tips..]

Hi again Iceman, I picked up a motorized 3.0m CM yesterday ! It is still in pieces and I'll set out with the ground work over the wkend.

BUT a quick question : is the actual surface of the dish meant to be "rough" ? Could you by any chance post a hi-res close-up of your dish surface? It seems almost too rough and bumpy ... instead of shiny and smooth as I expected it ...

Thanks.

m8 my 2.4mtr CM is the same, rough and textured.

My 1.5mtr gibertini was all smooth.

I think its because its fibreglass, I don't think it affects performance.

Actually measures a bit more than 3.0m. I make each petal 1,67m. The back plate must weigh 50-60kg. The whole thing is pretty big and I now realize I will need at least 2 people to help to get this thing into place
So started on the ground work and after almost 8 man hours only the concrete has been poured ( too dark for photos now though ). This is what I plan:
- secure and level the ground pole (done)
- fix the petals together on the ground and test with string
- attach back plate on the ground
- fit to ground pole
- attach lnb poles and lnb
- find my 12€ sat meter
- tweak and tune and tweak and tune and tweak and ...
- invest in a decent sat meter

Although it is motorized I am fixing it for now on 28.2

I'll snap away as progress is made and I'd like to hear suggestions or tips at this stage.

Two people can assemble this dish.I assembled the petals one at a time.
1-attach the pole & make sure it is dead vertical.
2-place the polar mount on the pole
3-remove inclination adjusting bar so that the mount can open back(dish facing up)
4-place the panels one at a time while the dish is in horizontal position.
5-tighten the bolts holding the panels after all four panels in place.
6-after making sure the panels align straight with each other tighten bolts and lift the dish to correct angle on the mount attaching inclination adjusting rods.
7-attach four LNB support arms and Feed+LNB
8-point dish to satellite and adjust fine tuning

I use my CM as motorised dish.

Cheers M8. I have thought of that also, but I'm backed up against a tree and I'm not sure I have 1,7m clearing. I will check though, and I will try and identify which is the "inclination adjusting bar" and how easily it comes off. Supposedly the angle and everything is already set up for 28.2 and all I would need to do is adjust the left-right (azimuth?). Thanks for the tip.
