Hello guys, just wondering any of you got a channel master 2.4mtr offset dish.

If so what feedhorn and c120 are you using ?

I am using a channel master feedhorn with invacom c120 but I think its the wrong feedhorn.

If use one could you please let me know the part number.

Thanks

you must have a big garden to fit it in

as for the feedhorn if you got it with the dish then it will be the correct one

i take it your after nilesat so the alignment and skew of the lnb will be crucial

yes would like some pics if you got a camera

Thanks guys,

The dish came with a standard LNBF Invacom 0.3.

I am using a feedhorn and c120 invacom and getting 20% on 11996H 7.0w.
I know the dish can get more ( i hope ) but its just trying to get the right feedhorn.

I have searched the net and made a phone call but nobody has one.

@ wod I'll post a picture soon m8, and no my garden is not big thats one reason why wife has gone mad. Wife = then 'O'-redand now :-Nooo

If you get the correct feed, then it will illuminate all of your dish face. And pull in every last drop of signal.;)

Where as your current feed may not be seeing all of your dish.

Hi mate I think the satellite superstore will stock them.

Yes but over priced. Im sure snap was selling them?

m8 i think you're right because if i stand in front of dish at the sides ( i'm 6 foot 2 ) this as no effect on signal which makes me think lnb is not seeing all the dish.

Regarding try to find the right feedhorn, I have looked everywhere the satellite superstore don't have any in stock and are waiting for them to arrive from USA.
I have ordered one and will have to wait, not a lot more I can do.

I am gutted really wanted it for this weekend.

Never heard of snap m8.

the member snap on here, he has replied on this thread.:)

Send him a pm,

£35.00 plus Vat and postage at cost.

It is crucial that you have the matched feed for that great dish.

Just to let you know, that I got the feedhorn from snap yesterday but sorry to say it made no difference.

In fact it gave a lower % then my current feedhorn.

Tested yesterday at 16.00 on 7.0w and the this feedhorn gave me 2% less than my current feedhorn.

Tried with both invacom c120 and inverto c120.

I lost 11996H on Tuesday and still it has not come back, i get a very weak signal but not enough to keep a stable picture.

I think it could be the weather or/and the time of year.

So as you can guess I am totally gutted, so plan B could be to look at moving :).

I have family in South Wales and Kent, now there are good places for sat hunting a lot better than damp and wet Manchester.

Strange that it didn't make a difference with the matched feed:confused

You would pull in 7w in S.Wales as a 1.8m does.

The weather isnt much better though:)

Hows things with the wife now mate?

Shes not forgot but has calmed down a bit.

The thing is now whats the point in keeping it if I cant get a good lock on 7.0w 11966H.

I am going to take it down and rebuild it.

When I put it up I put the bottom half on first then put the top half on and bolted it together.
I am now going to put the two half together on the ground first and then put it on.
Don't know if it will make any difference but I've nothing to lose.

What is puzzling me is my arms and feedholder/feedhorn are totally different then Likvid's dish.

See here

Then mine

The pics there are of a Gregorian style feed:-worship The same as the great fibo dish.

It is very important that he 2 pieces are lined up perfect.

Not sure what the best way too do it is, nut once set up you can use string stretched over the face to see if its lined up correctly;)
Here is a pic of my Fibo gregorian dish;)

You could use some small mirrors 1cm square and place them on the main 2.4m reflector at various points. If you point the dish at the sun (I know this may be a problem in your case) then the reflected light will tell you exactly where the focal point is and it will show you if any part of the dish surface is not aligned properly because the reflected light will not be at the focus.

In general terms the dual mode feed that came with the dish will out perform a corrugated/stepped feed that you replaced it with. Andrew have so many feed types so its best to check the part number and see what the spec says about its frequency coverage etc.

Andrew do a Gregorian feed for your dish as I have one on our 1.8m Andrew/CM here for VSAT use. Not sure what the cost of the Gregorian dual reflector feed arrangment is but I bet its not cheap knowing Andrew.

Cheers.

Thanks guys.

I only need another 1 or 2 % to get a picture, so that makes it even worse.

db is showing 72% it needs 74% to keep a stable picture.

Came down this morning for a drink at 03.30 and tried 11996H and had good solid picture with 77%.

At the mo its on 72% and you just get bits of sounds and picture now and then.

The weather is very bleak, overcast and damp at the mo.

I'm going to go out and have a play in a bit.

m8 been tweaking for last two hours but still can't get a stable lock on 11996H, the only lock i can get is 11919H.

I have undone all the bolts and tightened them again but made no difference.

Looks like I will have to wait for a cloud free day in Manchester......might be waiting a while me thinks.

Probaly won't apply in your case but my neighbour a few doors away was having problems for months with his satellite system. He has a small motorised setup but suddenly was not getting a good signal. Traced it back to the coax where the window cleaner had lent his ladder on the cable. He did a quick join to check, it was the cable, replaced it and its fine. On inspecting the cable you could see where the ladder had dug in and probaly more so due to the hot weather with the cable in the sun. He admits it was cheap cable but has got good quality this time and run it it conduit.
