Hi Folks
I must apologise first as the issue i'm going to document here i once had fully working some time ago but i didnt document it properly and now i've forgotten the finer details.
So here goes .

The reciever is a Octagon SF8 running Enigma2 (Openvix).
Outside is a motorised dish connected to a 2 way Technomate Diseqc switch

OBJECTIVE
I want to have Saorsat LNB and a Universal LNB working on the same motorised dish

The way I had it setup before is - output 1 ofa Diseqc switch to Universal LNB and output 2 to KA Lnb (Saorsat) - this LNB is sellotaped to the right of the Universal LNB looking at the dish front on
I set this 2nd KA LNB in Enigma2 at about position 13.2 east (I edited satellites.xml and stored in /etc/enigma2).

So when I wanted to watch Saorsat I moved the dish to 13.2 east using USALS - deflecting Saorsat from its orbital position at 9.0 east onto the KA LNB (dish position 13.2).

I managed to set it all up and by trial and error figured out the Enigma2 settings - all worked fine.

Recently I updated firmware and had to reload the Enigma2 Config for the KA LNB In the reciever settings by going into Setup --> Service Searching --> Tuner configuration

I have used advanced configuration option in there and set the Universal LNB to LNB1
and set it to use USALS at the bottom - this works fine for this LNB1

But for
LNB2 (Ka LNB Saorsat) I AM STUCK in terms of what settings for Enigma2

I have included a screenshot below of Enigm2 Options which I am unsure of - I have set it to use USALS i scrubbed that out by mistake when i was scrubbing out my co-ordinates - here is a screenshot of the settings for LNB2 Saorsat I have currently

BTW the sat called SAOR130 is actually at position 132 (13.2) in satellites.xml

Can anyone help guide me how to fill in the specific options listed in screenshot below - thanks

Hi Folks
OK in Satellites.XML I set Saorsat to position 9.0 east - and put an entry for it in there
So I tuned in the Ku Band on 9.0 East - then tuned in a channel and immediately swapped over to the KA LNB and tuned in the Saorsat position in Enigma menu to LNB1 and got all the channels - this was while physically connected on LNB1 port on the 2 x 1 Diseqc switch.

But when I went into the tuner config menu (as above) in Enigma menu and set the Saorsat LNB to LNB2 and also set the 2 x 1 Diseqc switch to have the KA LNB connected physically on LNB2 - THEN tried to tune in NOTHING came back
This has happened with 2 Diseqc switches i tried - the 2nd just arrived yesterday (new)
They couldnt be both faulty

What is the issue with the LNB2 output - when LNB1 port is fine ?

Remember I want all the KU Band Channels ond LNB1 port and the KA Saorsat channels on the LNB2 port (Saortsat being available while KA LNB is attached to the motor as an offset - available when motor driven to 13.4 / 13.6 ish)

But i only change to LNB2 and physically attach to LNB2 on switch thats all - but it wont work ??
works ok LNB1

I'm no expert on this, but I guess the LOF of a KA-band LNB won't be the same as for a "universal" Ku-band LNB?

If I understand correctly, you receive 9East at USALS position 13.xEast with your 'offset' KA LNB.

However: I don't understand what you wrote about your test procedure here, could you elaborate a bit?
OK in Satellites.XML I set Saorsat to position 9.0 east - and put an entry for it in there
So I tuned in the Ku Band on 9.0 East - then tuned in a channel and immediately swapped over to the KA LNB and tuned in the Saorsat position in Enigma menu to LNB1 and got all the channels - this was while physically connected on LNB1 port on the 2 x 1 Diseqc switch.

The lof of the saorsat lnb is 21200 that would allow the correct frequency to be added in the xml.

But it can work under the universal lof settings.

In the diseqc1 setting, try setting it to ab. That should give you port 2.

And aa should give you port 1

Thanks Folks
everyone please refer to this config page - different background slightly easier to read image - coords removed

To Explain a little better A33
I basically set the above screenshot for LNB1 on 9.0 east - this works fine
However if i change LNB1 in the pic above to LNB2 and go outside and change the lead to port 2 on the diseqc switch (going to the Ku LNB ) then it wont work - thats all i have done.
I dont THINK i could blow up 2 switches within a few days - i have checked for braid running on the inner core on all cables (which may cause a short) all looks OK

Chris Im going to try what you said also

BTW most of the forums / guides say as follows for the KA LNB:-

The approach is to fool the reciever into thinking its dealing with a Universal Ku LNB

By setting Saorsat frequency to

Freq : 10765 (worked out with a formula )
Polarity : Vertical
Sym Rate : 25000
FEC 2/3

Guys also I will just concentrate on determining the diseqc switch is working on both ports first for ONLY the Ku LNB
before i even touch the KA LNB (just in case diseqc switches could be faulty)

The receiver MUST be powered down when you are changing leads - if its live you can easily blow ports on the switch as you make & break the connections.

Well, you still need to enter a diseqc 1.0 command to LNB 1 and a command to LNB2, as @Chris1979 allready wrote! Your screen picture says "none", that is not right.
LNB1 should have 1 or A or AA;
LNB2 should have 2 or B or AB.
Otherwise the diseqc switch doesn't get a command to switch on...:(

I think that will do the trick. :)

Hi Everyone
Thanks so much - thanks to your promptings I got it sorted (and documented this time)

There is a PORT A / PORT B option in the Diseqc 1.0 field in tuner config - that solved the puzzle.

I basically physically positioned the Ka LNB tight to the right of the Ku LNB - then I drove the dish to position 13.8 .
(after setting the 9.0 East Kasat / Saorsat Satellite to the same position 138 in Satellites.XML)

I set the Kasat Satellite set to Diseqc 1.0 = PORT B in the tuner config .
This setup seems to deflect in a pretty good signal (about 50 to 52% quality ) from 9.0 East with the dish pointed at 13.8 degrees Minute adjustments may help - for now its OK.

In the tuner config all Ku band satellites are set to PORT A

Here are the screenshots (co-ordinates removed) - Hold Ctrl then + to zoom in :-

You've all been very helpful - nice to see folk willing to help others - as on some forums one can get ignored if their question seems a bit "thick" :)

Hopefully this Thread might help others - thanks all :-applause
