The ladies here are useless at computer security. They click on emails regardless, clog up their tablets and computers with junk etc. Now with 2 tablets and 3 computers to protect what is the best solution and choice of brands. One computer had over 5,000 emails, junk, some never read. I did a clean up and it took over 2 hours before it was sorted with over 90 duff registry entries. No wonder it took ages to boot up.

At the end of the day education is the only way forward. Threaten to take a large hammer to the device if they screw it up again :D

However you could sign them up to a mail screening system? Remove most of the junk before it gets to them

If it is a gmail account or similar, tell them to carry out their daily transactions on a mobile phone or tablet, so they have android updates looking after the security.

Mmmm in some ways Android is more like a sieve than Win10 unless you have a firewall blocking everything that is installed but not used, in it's time Google Play has verified as safe, numerous apps that have turned out to be malicious.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
One of the main issues with Android "security" is that "older" devices don't get the latest OS updates and are often stuck with the Anddroid "generations" with which they were originally sold - have rarely seen a device that could be updated to a new generation more than once or twice (sometimes not even that).

OTOH, I have a standing "agreement" with SWMBO that we will NEVER use the phones or tablets for anything remotely "finanial" - only do that work on the PCs.

Here, I run a 10-user version of Norton Internet Security which covers the 4-6 (that varies according to what actually works at any one time!) main Windows 10 m/c's, 2 Android Phones and 2 Android tablets (with 4G so can be used out of the house, and means that we don't have to rely on the "free wifi"!). Relatively cheap if you bag one of the bargain packages on AMZ, or sometimes ebay, and normally doesn't cost me more than £20-£25/year (sometimes less if I catch a real bargain ahead of time and then only use the licence code when the existing sub expires) - thus about £2.50/year per device. May not be perfect but am far happier with that setup than relying on Defender and Android "security".

PS: you can get similar 10-user deals with Kasperski - but I stopped using them several years ago due to the never-fully resolved issues about what they might "do" with your personal info!

Security + control of their devices? Installing tons of crap & clicking on anything everywhere, then complaining about phone\pc\whatever is slow, virus, hack, pc crashing, data usage exploded, "my phone is doing strange things", forgot passwords, lost 4 months or 6 years of important pictures etc etc. Of course zero backups.

Have stopped involvment vs friend's ridiculous problems, would be easier and more rewarding to teach dogs to play violin :O)

About android, it a sad state of affairs that security updates are so lagging (or inexistant for older devices). Personally don't mind some older OS, basic security fixes far more important.
