computer will not turn off once

Hi Guys,
Everytime i tried to turn off my computer package xp, i click once where it said start (turn off computer ), then i have to click one more time where it said start (to turn the computer off )any ideas will be much appreciated.

Sounds like something running which won't let it switch off, I seem to remember having problems with an antivirus which had a similar effect.

Try turning off your antivirus before switching off, then your firewall and then anything else which runs in the background, you should then hopefully find out what is causing the problem. :)

Download XP-Antispy and run it as it comes configured, unless you are allowing MS to phone home :-righton

Hi Guys,
Did all what you said no avail
Seemed to remember when i received my new computer from a n....tech,
After installing the xp package, when the first programme was installed as you need to restart the computer we noticed then when we switched it off we needed to do the same thing as i indicated on my first post, my mate is just a novice like me.Baffling

Any help there?

Have you tried booting up in safe mode ?
