After 3 2 hours sessions trying to line up my dish I finally have success :) what took so long was me twisting the lnb the wrong way! I knew that I needed to twist it about 12 degrees but was twisting it the wrong way:-doh!
Why would my lnb be twisted in the opposite direction to all my neighbors ? they all have sky dishes, would it make a difference ?

The skew is about 45 degrees off, see my linked thread above.

Must be so confusing without the meter to confirm. Bit like the MTI supreme LNb but that's the other way :D
That was a good find Rolf :)

Does this mean that I will not be able to use the LNB with a motor?

It means that when used on a motorised system when setting lnb completely vertical for your due south satellite you will have to set it at the angle shown, that is all but because it does not follow existing conventions it just makes what can be to some a difficult procedure harder still.

When you say "you will have to set it at the angle shown" do you mean 12.4degrees which is the angle that my lnb should be at or something else? thanks

Rolf was setting that up for a fixed installation on 28.2 East and the expected lnb skew was shown in RED whereas the cable exiting is at almost 90 degrees to that which implies that setting the lnb up for a motorised system you would have to set the cable output to about 15 minutes past the hour to be correct but never having had one seen one I can only work with the information supplied. In my opinion get a different lnb for £10.00 you have lost nothing

Set it at between 4 and 5 O'Clock and that should be roughly correct for zero skew, but will need fine tuning.

As Topper says, buy another LNB, something like the Inverto, probably won't cost you more than a tenner. :)

You also need to phone Maplin and let them know about the problem, as unless people do, they won't know that they are selling a defective product.
