Since it is said that my old DM7000 (with blue display) seems to be TOO old to handle my 3.5" ATA Maxtor 160GB HDD due to the possibility to overload my Dreambox, I am wondering if I can use a 2.5" S-ATA hdd connected to my IDE-controller on my Db? Would that work, or..?

Also, anyone who knows if my Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 Hard Drive (160GB ATA-133) would overheat/load in my DM7000 (with blue display) or would it work just fine...? So far I haven't found anyone who can say that it will work.. =/

No. It is not possible to connect a SATA HDD to a PATA (IDE) controller without a converter.
(e.g. h**p://www.cooldrives.com/satoidecofor.html)
But then again you might have problems to get the HDD into the case.

You could by an external case and connect the HDD to the USB port.

Why should your HDD overload the Dreambox? Do you mean overheat?
