Connect your PC to your CI-receiver

This year Brainwave will bring us a CI module with many multimedia capabilities & which allows you to connect your PC to your CI-receiver.

Here are the specifications:

Receiving of digital satellite programs on PC or Notebook
(TV, Radio, data)
• Recording of TV-programs at PC/Notebook
• Playback at PC (MPEG Software-Decoder)
• Playback via digital satellite-CI- receiver
• DVD Hardware Engine (Playback of DVD movies via digital
satellite-CI-receiver on your television

What is this suppose to be ?

It would appear to be a slot in module to enable your existing CI receiver to send video streams to your PC, a function which up until now, only units such as the Dreambox can accomplish.

Whether it will be popular will of course depend on its price.

Does that mean that a CAM is not required and the PC will act as a Software cam.

Is a Softcam the same ?

It certainly doesn't go as far as saying that Jude, but I would guess that it should be possible, after all it can be done using a season interface with your existing cam.

The ability to be able to record the MPEG stream on your hard disk is, I think what is interesting.

It looks interesting. Does the Dreambox do all the functions like Mpeg recording.

Where is the interface or how to create it. Any more details about it. Or is it still under development.
