No, the films are still encrypted in VideoGuard and the file system used by the Sky+ box is not the same as that of a PC. As far as I know there is still no way of getting a PC to recognise a Sky+ hard drive as having any data on it, let alone decrypting it.
A TV/Video in card on your PC is probably the best route for recording from Sky+ to DVD.

This is a good method if you want a new hobby, even with a hardware mpeg encoder in the PC you still need to author the DVD. And there is no guarentee that you will not have problems with lipsync, especially if the capture card doesn't use hardware to encrypt the video to mpeg2.PoloMint said:

And even it could acknowledge the existance of these files you STILL couldn't watch them on a PC as they are recorded directly as encoded MPEG data streams and then decoded, therefore needing the $ly card, when you want to watch them.

Well strictly speaking you can but only with specialised tools and it's not for the novice or intermediate. You certainly can't do it from a 'Windows' interface. You can pull data off any media with the right software.
Even if you did manage to pull the data off the disk, you'd have one hell of a time putting it back together and then sorting out any residual encryption.

What about this idea:
Take a Mini DV Videocamera (if you've got any) and then archive the HDD recordings on DV Tapes. Ok not quite cheap, but not compressed as MPEG2 on DVDs, only D/A & A/D processed.
The major problem i see is not the loss in quality but the time it takes to archive certain recordings. The best would be if any of the new Sky+ boxes would have a LAN-/IEEE1394-/USB 2.0-Interface so that the data transfer could be made 1:1 easily and quickly to a PC-HDD. But this will never happen
