Hello from my cottage on an island near Bergen. Bought the place due to it's location 'in the wilderness', but 20 minutes driving from town. Love the lake and mountain view from the house, got eagles flying around there. Forest all around in other directions.

Finally got a dish up (after 20 years :O), thought I'd did try to keep it low-tech while here, no tv, no internet, but found it difficult and had to give in ;O) 1st up is a 60cm astra 19e, for all the info, nature, civilization, history programs.

The MTI proved the best here, performed useless for any low level sats, but excellent for 19e. Always nice to play with lnb's.
lnb.jpg

Using a 27" 'gaming' pc monitor, pretty scary good picture, enhances any defects on many programs and channels :O) so have to scale down on sharpness, saturation etc. Still trying adjustments to find a decent compromise. Excellent++ on good quality HD programs. An old Vantage 8000 (production date 07\2008) does an excellent job

What a beautiful place to reside in. I'm envious.

I found that turning the resolution of the receiver to 720p masks a lot of the evils of true HD reception. I keep a Vantage 7100 in the back room for those programmes that deserve it.

Lovely location btw, but where's the beer ?

Thanks, it's a great place, acquired it many years ago at a giveaway price, nobody wanted it, was the only one to come up with an offer! Now times have changed and property value in the area have soared, and it got permission for building. A (very) few times in life one has some luck. It's literally at the end of the road, so no traffic noise. It's my getaway to nature hideout.

The Vantage set for 1080i (for the few channels using it), will try 720p. No more beer (or any other chemicals) here for many (good) reasons :O)

Old cottage from 1955, just keeping it in ok shape and liveable, keeping as much as possible of the old wood and countryside atmosphere. Will probably spend more time there now that there's some basic internet and sat. Got some good south oriented walls for more dishes...

Very nicely situated house!

I'm sure you can fit a side-loaded LNB for 13E on that dish and thereby tonnes of more channels.
Whether they're any good watching is, of course, entirely up to you ;)

So I never have to leave the place to buy food :O) but yes, could probably get pizzas and anything else (booze, dope and women >just joking) delivered.
fit a side-loaded LNB for 13E
13e not on the agenda here (but I may get my old motorized out here). 28e would be the next real goal, and 5w when I get some Fransat box.

Finetuning the 19e setup > cutting some treetops in the path, removing a few branches resulted in a substantial signal quality increase, much more impact than I'd imagined, even with no leaves on tree.

Todays view, snow vanished during the night, heavy rain storm building up.

^^^ lol, am spending time here to get away from most of this (...trouble).

I call the lake in front of the house Loch Ness :O) Many places on the west coast here have similarities to Scotland.

Neither fishing nor shooting, although if of interest, was an active target shooter, mainly a specially good 1944 Lee Enfield No.5 'Jungle Carabine'. At the shooting range used original 303 amunition from the war, it made a terrific loud bang making everyone turn their heads, and was fun putting many\most expensive modern weapons to shame with it's accuracy at 100 m. See No5 for the history.

The 19e 60cm dish performs perfect, spent some more time with lnb's, anything and everything would work for the strong 19e, but interesting to see tops and dips for different transponders for different lnb's. The MTI AK-54 still the best here (general signal quality and consistency between frequencies) on this strong signal (it was the worst of everything for weak signals on other sats).

And today's weather report from 'Loch Ness' :O)
19e excellent in snowstorm. 94% on the Vantage is approx 100% on the Solo2.

At the cottage in N, found some available pieces of things to make a well working sliding center arm adjustment for the famaval 125, adjusting this makes all the difference for getting the best out of that dish for weak signals like 28e, ref. the experiments with famaval in F > 1st dish in France

Testing 19e as addon, works fine even with the fantastic workmanship, will soon source some decent holder.

And the summer is here :O)
