Hallo,

i have got curious problem. (Amstard Skydigibox, 80cm dish, humax Lnb 0.5db, Location Germany,Cologne)
Since last week i have lost all horzisontal channels, i.e. Channel5, BBC2, Discovery. All the vertical channels work BBC1, Channel4, Cartoon Network. Except now and then all work and sometimes (like today, clouds and rain) none work except BBC1 (with slight problems). Last year even the winter storms were no problem. Reception is normally 85%Strength and 40%Quality.
Is my Lnb broken or did they move the satellites.

Thank you for any answers

I'd say your dish alignment is not proper anymore because in Cologne the signal is very strong. There are some people also receiving with a 33cm dish Astra 2D. And if they had moved the beam the hell would be going on in german fora, so that cannot be.

They haven't move the satellites or this, and other boards, would light up.

Sounds like an LNB problem - check for any cracks in the housing or water penetration.

They're not that expensive, if you can get access to your dish, replace it.

The voltage from the receiver switches the LNB from horizontal to vertical and this may be your problem.

If you are receiving horizontal but not vertical channels then the dish should still be pointing in the correct direction.

Those Amstards can be a bastrad, had a few of them which exibited the same symtoms, shortly before giving up the ghost altogether. Have you had a chance to try another receiver on the dish?

Thank you for all the answers. Especially about the signal strengt in the cologne area.
I will try a new lnb next week. If my digibox breaks all hell will break loose as i have to get a new one from ebay and than drive to england to get it. Or is there any german satbox that can read the skyviewing card?

Any Sky box will decode all the channels (except the premium channels and itv2) with any card. you can buy one on ebay and have it posted to you

Hello,

the solution to the bad reception was as follows:
Digi box on
Sky card pull out
Digi box off
Power supply disconnect

10 min later

Pwr supply connect
Digi box on
Sky card insert

Wait...........It found all channels and works fine ever since.

Thanks again for your help
