I'm surprised you don't hook the dustbin and the greenhouse up as well to see what you can pick up off of them? :-laugh

Secondary area:

Top row

Salvaged 80cm aligned onto 53E. Offset lnb for 57E, although this one is currently disconnected
Sky analogue 60cm dish. This is our 28E dish

Bottom row

Salvaged 80cm aligned onto 45/46E, although moves around to 36E on occasions. This one will be redone with the new Triax thats currently lying on the lawn - rain stopped play with this one atm & its rapidly becoming a shallow bird bath!

Salvaged 60cm ex Sky digital dish aligned onto 42E

I have very strict instructions from the other half about not shielding the light from her greenhouses. Pity as I could get another 4 or 5 dishes in easy :D

Your neighbour's rig seems positively understated with a single BSkyB dishlet.

The wiring on that dish is worse than mine. Theres yards of additional cabling coiled up under the window in the perfect place to get strimmed this summer......

So you don't complain about his cabling and he doesn't complain about your dishes! :-thumb1

Any dishes noted as salvaged have been acquired from neighbours, skips, off the side of the road etc. Most have had to be straightened out to some degree apart from the 53E dish which had been bent double when I got it, that one took all of one warm sunny afternoon to straighten out!

Liking that secondary area*.

If I started one here, I don't think I could walk properly for a month or two. Still dreaming though.

I used a TD64 for a couple of years with a monoblock for 13e with 19e offset. You know what the wind blown torrential rain and snow can be like but it never went off. Despite the recent transponder changes on 19e the signals seem as strong as ever. Now is the time to free up the 80cm before the summer monsoon season kicks in.

* big understatement.

Reading this thread had got me looking at dish prices again. Being oop narth bigger is always better so I was looking at the generic LH / Orbital / ISS / etc style dishes (my LH 1m has served faithfully for over 20 years). I found you can get two generic 1.1m for a bit more than one smaller Gibertini 1m, and perforated 'mesh' 1.1m are going for as little as £38 before post. As they are easily camoflauged with a bit of spray paint and are see-through enough to start to become invisible I began to have ideas. . .

Anyway, all that thinking reminded me of another thread, which I eventually found after a fair bit of searching.

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/topic/113397-1m-gibertini-motorised/#entry720984

If you look there you can see that shamone got a used 1.2m dish for only £13  in The Toon. You can see in the photo how much bigger the 1.2m is compared to the Gibertini 1m.

Of course you may say you are happy with your TD110. But if you think about it a 1.2m, especially a 1300 x 1200 would give an edge which is essential up here with so many footprints fading out over this area. (Pity that no one makes a 1300 x 1200 perforated dish at say £48, lightweight enough to go anywhere, I'd get it in a flash - anyone in China reading?!). That fade has become more annoying over the last couple of years with the pathetic weather, it is enough to make me consider upgrading more of my fixed dishes to larger sizes like the easily camoflauged perforated ones.

1.2m would be the largest you could realistically have in your current setup without major engineering works. Not to mention a useable elevation bracket, I can see it going on a pole and resting on the tyre to give a bit of stability and ease of swinging round.

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/topic/97238-gibertini-150-or-cm120/#entry617638

This could also be of interest to Tivú as IIRC he has his TD110 on a patio mount and shamones other photo shows his 1.2m installed near ground level on a diseqc motor.

A bit of patience checking the usual second hand places could prove lucky some day.

Having stuck the 8 way lnb I bought a few months ago onto the post holding the 53E dish up in the "secondary area" Ive been doing some rewiriing

The F3 now sees

57E (disconnected atm - need to do some work on this lnb)
53E
46E (& 48E if I move this dish around)
45E
42E
26E
23.5E
21.5E (for the DVB-S2 stuff that wont show on the 7020)

23.5E is now an offset lnb on the 13E dish. All tp's are received at high levels apart from the low bit rate ones at 11684V ( which takes 30 seconds to lock & wont scan the channel in) & 11691V which is either off atm or wont lock at all.
