I have been trying to get the Humax HD box from curry's.

They are saying that it is not available as it has been recalled.

Anyone else heard this story ?

Thanks

emailed Humax customer services and got the following responce

Dear Customer

Please be informed that there have been NO recalls related to any of our products, especially our Freesat model (FOXSAT-HD).
The customer was misinformed by Currys regarding this matter as the reason for lack of stock is due to the high demand at the moment for the FOXSAT-HD.

Hope that helps, although it wont help you get your box

I got mine from Dixons mail order about two weeks ago. Cost a bit more but it was delivered within three days (even though I selected 5 working days option). No hassle from clueless sales people motivated by sales rather than service, so in my opinion it was worth the extra £10 + postage.

Avoid Currys if at all possible - their staff are totally clueless, and often refuse to sell unless you take the installation package. There have also been cases of them telling folk that Sky dishes arent suitable, that HD on the HDTV receivers stands for hard drive, and similar horror stories.

While on subject, any recommendations for freesat boxes in fringe areas ?

I purchased mine around 2 weeks ago from Dixon on the internet. It cost £10 more than the going rate, plus postage. However it arrived in 3 days (chose 5 working day postage rate). The extra was much preferable to taking nonsence from sales people more motivated by targets than service.
