Dear all, I am currently using a Triax 1.1mt satellite dish.

Unfortunately the arm holding the lnb has bent in the high winds we have had recently.

Is there any way to determine the correct angle of the arm in relation to the dish, or should I find it by trial and error.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

I thought the Triax dishes had arms that folded up on a hinge. The 70 and 90 cm omes all had foldaway items.

If not and if the dish itself remained on the satellite, the arm simply needs to be bent back to the position of strongest signal

Thanks for the help Channel Hopper.

The arm is in one piece (no hinge), so I'll try as you suggested and bend the arm.

many thanks

If you wait for a sunny day, point the dish at the sun, and the sun will be reflected to the focal point of the dish. Bend the arm carefully so the reflection sits on the face of the LNB.

a dish + lnb are like a car headlight and its bulb. if you move the bulb a little, the beam will alter also.
if the lnb bracket(fixing arm) has moved, set the dish (if it ismstearable) to a satellite and then manually bend the bracket till you get a good picture again by trial error.
this will get you going. set it on a weaker sat.
you will get this whenever the lnb is changed.
of course, this is a bit rough.
if you have a signal-sensor, it will be easier.
you shoulb be able to sight the bracket so it looks about right.
the only better solution is get a setter in = £££

It's possible to calculate the exact focalpoint of an offset dish if you want to do it that way...

Great pic m8. I think that I will paint some number on my 1.25m, that will upset the man from the council when he comes snooping round and asking if I have planning permission for the dish.
Dish? What dish? That thing up there is a mobile sun dial  .
Cheers AF
