Hi

Just checking to make sure I am using the correct way to store the Sats.

I was not having much joy with Autogoto function with my SG2100, so I have decided to store the positions. Obviously this means manually moving the dish initially to align with the correct Sat, the Strongest Transponder list comes in handy here. I am then using the following:-

Pos 1:- 45deg E
Pos 2:- 42deg E

and so on, all the way through to 30deg W.

Does this seem a good way of doing it, or should I have used the Autogoto function ?

Cheers

The GoToXX function doesn't always work.

You can store them in any order it doesn't matter.

If you can download the latest Satellite.xml file that will help and save you loading in all the frequencies/scanning.

You may not have a lot of space on the 5000 series and will have to delete the positions/frequencies you don't receive or want.

You may be able to find a cut down version.

If you use the Gemini image you might have luck with the go to xx. Mine works ok with it now, no channels stored manually. Other than that you'll have to just store them. Don't think it matters which number you give to what sat.

Also going back to the gotoxx function, question:-

I get the following info from my area:-

Lat: 53:35:24N (53.5901) Lon: 1:12:08W (-1.2023)

Now I know I use the figures in the brackets and that on the Lon one I am turning it into a plus figure of 358.797. The question being, that I know that I have to select North in the Lat bit of the DB setup, but what do I set Lon to ? Is it still West as stated above ?

Cheers

Well installed "hydra56xx_zeus" and so far the "Autogoto" seems to be working fine. Asked Hydra to scan 30w, 1w, 13e, 19e, 28.2e, 42e and off it went, well currently sat at 19.2e.

Re my question above about East/West on the Lon setting, I selected East. Not 100% sure that was right, but seems to be working ok.

woh woh woh

i thought you juts removed the minus and changed to east?

ie Lat: 53:40:21N (53.6724) Lon: 2:40:27W (-2.6741)

becomes

53.672N 2.674E

???

Tbh I'm not 100% sure, but I thought to make the minus figure into a plus figure you did 360 minus the minus figure (-2.6741) ?

If someone could confirm the correct way for entering Lon/Lat figures it would be appreciated.

Cheers

So you are saying that if my Lon/Lat results are:-

Lat: 53:35:24N (53.5901) Lon: 1:12:08W (-1.2023)
Then I need to input into the DB motor setup:-

Lat: 53.590N
Lon: 1.202E

Is this correct ?

Cheers

Hi Homer

It is really easy, I am not sure why you lot make it so complicated (unless I got it completely wrong for the last 2 years :) ). All you need is to go to the right site, put in your town and you get all the details.
All you then need to do is enter them in your dreambox. Have a look at the screenshot.

Right, so say if my results are as follows:-

Lat: 53.588
Lon: -1.192

Don't know about your DB but I can't input a minus figure and and I also need to say weather the Lat is North or South and if the Lon is East or West?

Just can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Cheers

If you have a minus figure you should be using West for it in the motor config section.

Ok, so say I convert this to a plus figure (due to the DB not accepting minus figures), will it still be west ?

what do i do now to let it find others sats (is it even possible)

i know i can manually go west 0.8 to find perfect thor and store that, but i dont wanna have to do that for every sat, what do i do?

All I did after installing Hydra Zeus, is select Complex setup and make sure the Autogoto function is enabled along with my Lon/Lat, then selected the option of scanning multi Sats, then selected the ones I wanted, eg. 30w,1w,13e,19e, etc, then when I started the dish moved automatically to each Sat.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
