knowing my longitude and my latitude, how to find the antenna diameter it takes to capture a certain beam for example to capture the beam "Europe ku" from India. What is the general calculation for any point and any beam?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

You need to know the average downklink signal strength at the specific location, which will equate to an average dish size. There will also be a minimum level of signal necessary to overcome the noise that is generated by all the equipment used to collect a good signal, which requires a link budget calculation and is dependent on what you wish to receive.

Have a look at the footprint charts of the satellites here, some are official, some are a result of signals received once launched and the downlinks have been refined by the satellite operators.

Some of the Hotbird 13E channels are receivable in India with reasonable sized dishes.

However which satellites are you particularly interested in - some of them we can advise "forget it" in India

OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Try satbeams.com, it has active footprint maps that will give you an estimated dish size needed for that satellite and beam for your location.

Thank you for your answers. so concretely, if I am for example in a city like Cotonou in Africa, how to determine the antenna diameter to reach astra or hotbird?
And Channel Hopper, how to find it from link budget calculation?

Dont bother about link budgets as in Contonou in Benin then you dont get the European beams of Astra or Hotbird - you are just too far out of the coverage area!

You make do with the beams that cover West Africa.
