Got this advice from a friend who is a doc

If U think that someone is facing a stroke, but U are nor sure then do as follows

1. ask the person to smile

2. ask her/him to raise BOTH arm in the air

3. ask them to say a sentence like " It is a lovely weather today"

If they fail anyone of those test get to a phone and call emargency at once and tell them what U did

This simple test could save lifes If a stroke comes under threatment within 3 hours most can be saved

Force an Aspirin down their throat, after dialling for an Ambulance, nothing else.

A dispersible Aspirin works quicker, Aspirin thins the blood. OK if the stroke is caused by a clot but pretty useless if the stroke is caused by a broken blood vessel.

Ok - heres some actual gen from someone who had a slight (right side) stroke one saturday night 18 months ago.

Symptoms - I was violently sick for over an hour Saturday night. I had distinct pins and needles in my left side, & dropped several cups of tea on Sunday, and had dreadful trouble cycling to work on monday morning as I had a distinct left wobble. :D)

(I looked so bloody awful they dragged me off to hospital mid morning! Everyone said one side of my face looked "odd" - a slight but distinct droop that I couldnt see.) Two months off work for starters, and a continuing feeling of complete exhaustion after a long day fighting our dilapidated computer system at work....

Apart from that Im fine :)

Not at all, due to a decrease in blood pressure as a bleed occurs, administering Aspirin is universally accepted as the norm. Rather like saying don't give glucose (sugar) to someone in a diabetic coma. If the coma is hyperglycaemic (too much sugar) then giving more sugar does not make the situation any worse. Therefore giving Aspirin in a suspected case of CVA (bleed) will of course thin the blood but, also, simultaneously reduce the workload of the heart ... reduce blood pressure.

Anyone over 40 should consider taking half an Aspirin every day

Do a search on Aspirin on Google it really is a wonder drug...

IMPORTANT: As with everything medical, please seek advise from your doctor before taking any medication.

You can still get coated Aspirins but you have to ask as they cost more.

I bow to your knowledge and experience
It just seems illogical to guarantee the bleeder continues bleeding instead allowing the natural clotting procees to begin to seal the leak.

UK Paramedics are obliged to administer 150 / 300 mgs of Aspirin spray in every call out to a suspected cardio vascular accident. It is not the bleeding which is life threatening but, rather, the clot itself.
