Is it possible to update a Diablo CAM using the PCMCIA slot in a laptop or do you have to use additional hardware like a cas3 plus interface? Many thanks in advance.

You require either a Cas 2 or 3 for the Diablo light Cam, the Cas 3 + is a good investment as it can program cards and cams.

Mickha,

I have just bought a diablo cam and downloaded stealth 208 (I currently have 06)

However when i

1 - open CAS studio 8.2
2 - start cas studio
3 - click on Cam module
4 - click Diablo cam
5 - click on the '...' button (upgrade CAM tab)
6 - point at the folder i saved the stealth file to (its an '.rar' file)
7 - No files are showing as being in the folder

In windows I only have one 'files of types' view option and thats 'Diablo update file' but it doesn't show that any files are in the folder despite the fact that stealth 208 is in there.

Any ideas what i am doing wonrg ?

Rar is short for Winrar, similar to winzip, it is a compression tool for compressing files, making them smaller and easier to upload/download.
Use google and search for Winrar, and then extract Stealth 208.dup to the desktop, easier to find when loading.
It is usually best to format your cam before loading a new Stealth file, under Cam Disk Functions tab, and then load your new Stealth.
After formatting you will need to alter the configuration settings and load the latest diablo keys.bin file.

Thanks Mickha, and not for the first time ........ I take my hat off kind sir .......

Next problem .......

I have updated the software to Stealth 207 (no probs), however I can't update to 208.

I am updating with CAS 3 / studio 8.2

It shows the upload as successful, however when I go into utilities is wont let me past the 'STEALTH 208' menu (it just hangs the programme).

I have put the cam into the receiver also and again it does the same, shows as STEALTH 208, but hangs if I try to click into the menus (It also doesn't open anything).

Incidentally does the 208 open Polsat sport ? I'd love to see the Scotland v Lithuania match !

Did you format your Cam before loading Stealth 209?
Also try using your Cas 3 to alter the configuration settings.
After loading Stealth 209, exit the Diablo menu and at the first page of the Cas software click on the Utilities tab, top right next to forum tab.
Click OK that you have removed any smartcards.
Click on Common Interface Icon.
Click on Stealth 209 and enter, then enter configuration and alter the settings.

For TPS you need to leave it tuned in to France 4, or other channel sharing that frequency, for a couple of minutes for the AU to take effect, then go to other channels.
For Polsat try one of the AXN channels.
Also check that you have it set up correctly in the configuration settings.

Hi Mickha,

Tried and failed ....... (sorry i know must be p'ssing you off by now, apologies for that, and I do appreciate your help)

I have check the cam in both my Powersky and Startrack receivers both without success.

My configuration settings are

CAID file (Astra_1)
Auto PMT (on)
Emulators (on)
Emu priority (1-emu, 2-cards)
Fixed CN (on)
Smartcard message (show never)

CAS all are on
Utilities scard 1 &2 (off)

boot version 1.4
Free storage 1117184

When I use the Powersky box Polsat shows as (service not available)
On the Startrack it shows (software upgrade)

Both are in UCAS mode.

Any ideas what im doing wrong ?

Turn Fixed CW to off.
Try tuning in to one of the SRG channels on hotbird, like TSI 1, if you have the latest keys then that should open, then switch to France 4 and TPS should open fairly quickly, but give it a couple of minutes.
I like to leave the smartcard message on as this actually shows the cam in action, you know something is happening when this message pops up, whereas, with it off, I have had the cam lock up, switching between different providers too quickly, and hadn't realised.
This required me switching my receiver off, removing the cam, switching on my receiver and inserting the cam to get it working.
I have just tried TPS and it opened for me in a few seconds.
Please keep us updated with your progress and good luck.

Hi Mickha,

I done some more tests over the weekend and it appears my Powersky rec doesn't work with the Diablo cam. My startrack receiver is fine.

Its not surprising as I haven't been to update the software on the Powersky for at least 2 years (I downloaded a file a shouldn't have and have not been able to update the software since). Anyway it looks like that was core to the problem.

Maybe this is the beginning of the end for my trusty old Powersky.......

Thanks again for your guidance and patience .....
