Well my new Satellite Receiver did not arrive today as I was told by the supplier that there is a problem with customs clearance..agggghhhh why me?

Okay while I'm waiting for probably another week or so can I ask another question to further enhance what I've learned on this great forum since I joined...the question is this, I have seen in the index of the manual for the ODS3000Ci a reference to upgrading the receiver via satellite, but I'm unable to find any instructions on how to do it should it be required.

I can say with certaintly that this receiver was not used for well over a year before I got it, so it may need an upgrade. If it can be done over the satellite great if not well I guess I'd better buy a nul modem cable so I can hook it up to my computer. Can anyone help me to better understand this process.

Thanks in advance

The Echostar receivers used to be capable of upgrading, their firmware, over a designated satellite channel on Hotbird. To do this you just needed to be on the satellite, Hotbird, and go into the menu and it would upgrade automatically.
Since Echostar stopped supporting their receivers, a few years ago, this service was halted.
If the service is available for your receiver it will tell you in the manual, if not it is just as easy to update the firmware using your computer and cable.

Dear Mickha

I am considering to get the Cas3+ and a Diablo Light Cam

Just to confirm that I can
a) Cas 3 can programe a Dragon Loader Card with the .dra file with only USB no serial connection needed?
 Its easy as programming a Dragon Loader with just a single Steath File to the Diablo?

Thanks Mickha,

That's more or less what I had worked out and don't think it's available as there is not a mention of it in the manual except for what is in the index, so looks like it was dropped a while back. There are firmware updates on their site so looks like I will have to buy a nul-modem cable, I need one anyhow.

Thanks a bunch, take care and more questions will be on the way no doubt.

Hi Shahid,
with the Cas 3+ you have 2 ways of upgrading your Dragon Cam, using only a USB cable.
1. You can program your loader card and load the cam as normal.
2. You can load new firmware using just the Cas 3 and the dummy card.

Programming the Diablo is different than the Dragon, but easy with the Cas programmer, as is loading new key bin files.
You wont be disappointed with the Diablo or Cas 3+.

Yes you can add the keys using your remote control, but at the moment quite a few of the good packages are AU, (Auto Updating) so there is no need to change the keys.
Before loading a new Stealth file it is advisable to format the cam, so then you load the latest keys.bin file, it only takes a few seconds, so is a lot quicker than entering them manually.

All Stealth files include a keys.bin file, so all you are doing is updating it, the Stealth team haven't got time to produce the new software and update all the keys, so it is up to the user, and the easiest, quickest, method is just to update the new Stealth with the latest Stealth keys.bin file.

The Diablo arrived today with Stealth 2.08 fully loaded. All main 3 providers working!

Not bad for £60.00

tested now for an hour i can say i have jumped from provider to provider without the need of rebooting. clearance time when channel hopping to a new provider is 20secs or under. tests are on the Humax HDCI 2000

Yes, Diablo and the Humax are an excellent match.

I'd like to report that Diablo and the Fortec HD box behaved in the same exemplary manner, but initialisation can take several insertions of the cam before being recognised. A pity, as otherwise the Fortec is getting much more support for its software.

Dear Llew

Now that I have the Diablo and no programmer to program it,how long do you think I will get away with AU of the 3providers before I will need to invest in a CAS 3 + ?
a) 1month
 3months
c) 6 months +

The Diablo team are fairly good with support so expect a new Stealth release within a month, but so far with D+, Premiere, TV Cabo, TPS and Polsat, all AU, and it being easy to manually update other keys, you should have a lot of viewing options, without a Cas 3.
But a Cas 3+ should be an essential item, on your shopping list, as the Diablo team have promised further major updates, and new providers, soon, according to the Stealth 208 read me file.
