I have ordered a Big Sat Quad LNB on Ebay. I have received a Big Sat Quattro LNB. Am I right in thinking that they are different? I don't want to go to the trouble of fitting and then to find out that it is not what I want. Any body there that can help?

Of course. Generally speaking, quads are for domestics use - they have 4 outputs, each of which is fully functional - will give you all bands and channels.

Quattros are for distribution systems - their outputs are configured as low band vertical, low band horizontal, high band vertical and high band horizontal. With a bit of electronic jiggery pokery and a clever distribution box, dozens of boxes can be wired and "see" all the channels transparently.

For home you of course want the quad type.

If it is from Germany, they sometimes call a quad a quattro, how are the outlets marked? If they are just labelled 1,2,3,4, then it is a quad. :)

Thanks analoguesat. That's what I thought. It's myself to blame. The headline says Quad LNB but in the description VERY LARGE it says Quattro. I didn't see it. here's the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&?ViewItem&item=5744070923
By the way I'm from Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae But I am having to forgo the lovely weather there and suffer the wintry ravages of the Costa del Sol at the moment. I bet you feel for me.

Outputs V-H, V-L, H-H, H-L. Also a diagram with multiswitches. Looks like a Quattro

Run four boxes from one dish...

May make a profit...

Dear Devon Brown
Don't feel too bad I was over in Barcelona last week and I bought 2 what i thought were Quads but turned out to be Quattros in a market for €20.00. I suppose "Buy cheap Buy twice".
Just put it down to experience
