Receiver Digiquest 6670hd Complete With Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive

Hello everyone I'm looking for help. I have a digiquest 6670hd and coupled too it a Western Digital 1TB hard drive.
My problem is. The receiver will only download up to 8% of the hard drives capacity. When it reaches 8% it stops recording to the drive.
I can record to a separate USB stick and transfer the file to the drive via my laptop to the drive no problem, and the drive accepts it pushing it beyond the 8%.
I have tried reformatting etc. to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any advice and help anyone has to offer. Many thanks.

Comet.

Are you able to record multiple times to the drive ?
If so then you have reached the maximum size for a single file, which will be slightly more than 125GB

What is the maximum capacity of USB stick you have used successfully?
When you have filled the HDD with more than 8% does the reeiver play the files?
What file type have you formatted the HDD to OR was it in the receiver?
Have you a smaller capacity HDD to try?
I have a strong suspicion that 1TB is above the maximum size that the receiver supports (from the symptoms only 80G:cool: - do you have a user manual for it - the only one I can find online is in Spanish?

That would be a recording of 30 to 60 hours in HD

Hi.
The size of the USB stick is 32g.
The receiver does play the files.
The HDD is formatted to NTFS and I changed the file management system from GPT to MBR as the receiver wouldn't recognise GPT.
I have a manual but makes no reference to the HDD size etc.
Unfortunately I do not have a smaller HDD
Since I have copied more files to the HDD via my laptop, the receiver has now decided that I have to view the files in the File List/ Video instead of File List /Record which it always did before and is much easier to access and is straight forward to use.
I know this receiver is quite old. Do you know if there is an upgrade available or can anyone recommend a receiver which can handle a 1TB HHD if I decide to cure the receivers problems with a large hammer.[/QUOTE]

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
@Comet
From what Davem said (and my own experience with the TM5402 M3) I suspect the issue is the file type that the HDD is formatted to use - can't remember which it was but there's info here:
- What’s the Difference Between FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS?
- What's the Difference Between FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS? | ilicomm
- Restriction on file transfer size to external hard drive?

I think I will now have to reformat the drives I put inside the 2x TMs - unless, of course, their OS does it automatically, and then I'm "stuck"! May be the same for you!

Then you won't be able to do anything about it. Passports have their own format for transfer, encryption and password matching.

They are also notoriously troublesome.

I beg to differ, unless you are thinking of some Specific model of a WD Passport.

I just looked and it seems WD are now adding Hardware 256Bit encryption to the Passport range now, that's a bit sneaky of them and crap.
However that will not cause any issues between the Host Device (Sat Box/PC) to the Drive. The only issue is for any data recovery or if you manually set a password as you will need to have the WD Software running to enter the password, which obviously you cannot do on a sat box.

You cannot remove the drives on a lot of these 2.5" based drives over the past few years as they do not have native SATA but USB directly on to the controller board. So a bit pointless removing them from their enclosure.
