Right, totally new to the concept of motorised.......
Is it true that any motor is just powered by the existing cable with a short feed on to the LNB? also, are there any maximum cable runs for this? my dishes are about 80-90m away but we get the astra's and hotbird fine. Can anyone advise on what's needed, (and compatible with the SL65 (cheap and semi nasty is fine as long as it works - spending too much time n money on the sat stuff recently.........))

You are correct for DiSEqC 1.2 motors, yes.

You will get an insertion loss by adding the motor, but it should be OK even at the long cable run you have (but you won't see me in court if it's not!).

I can recommentd the SG2100A and the STAB equivalent, though you don't say what dish size you are talking about.

Anything much over 1m starts getting a bit OTT for DiSEqC.

I assume that the SL65 has DiSEqC 1.2 capability?

You can get the SG2100A for around £45 new if you really shop around.

Thanks, 80cm dishes. Have an old 1m+ dish to resurrect but that's for another thread with a pic no doubt........

For what its worth, I am driving a Stab HH90 (80cm dish) via USALS from my Silvercrest SL 65. Just punch in your location ( lat & long) in the USALS setup menu of the reciever and away it goes whenever you need to tune a channel thats on another sat'.

hth

Bobnuts1.

PS you will also need to go into each sat setup menu and chose "motor" for DISeqC

There you go - living proof :)

SG2100A or STAB HH90 or above would be my choice. I have the SG2100 and it's been bombproof.
