HI EVERYONE!

Looks like I will have renew my Gibertini dish motor as it has completely failed. I have had this one 4 years (thought it would have lasted longer than that), however, what can you do? All I know is that it making my Technomate box do some crazy things. Tested the box on another dish and it was fine.

Has anybody else had similar experiences?

My original Motek has been stressed by weight, wind and rust, with the plating virtually gone, yet does sterling service over seven years on.

I bought a spare five years ago, just in case!

Maybe I was unlucky and to be honest it had been messed about with quite a bit. Still, I fancy another Technomate 2600 motor as they are pretty good. Unless somebody else can recommend something different?

Over to you lads and lasses! :D

It says that engine (Technomate 2600 ok)is and that are those "crazy" things that it does, if you do not count it, the others or idea, we can always consult for the standard system.

As you do not say that it really happens to you (it does not work), if it moves well in both directions, but there is the satellite where it stops (usals/Goto X), if you move it manually if you have a signal, some Reference of zero, send it from the receiver to zero, and press the reset button (according to the photo of the avatar, I think that engine has reset), we give the reference of the zero so that again calculate the correct position of the satellite.
The reset is next to the transparent button with the green and orange led,
You already said / confirmed.
-------------

I tried pressing the buttons on the dish motor and there was no response. Nothing at all....totally dead!

The transparent silicone button must be green when the motor is powered and flashes red when receiving movement commands.
If it is not green, it has no power, check cables and rust.
-----------
El pulsador de silicona transparente tiene que estar verde cuando tiene alimentacion el motor y parpadea en rojo al recivir ordenes de movimiento.
Si no esta verde, no tiene alimentacion, revisa cables y oxido.

Like I said, I tested the box on another (fixed) dish @28.2 and it was perfectly OK. I am certain there is a problem with the dish motor (no lights at all).

Run another cable before binning the motor. If you haven't got enough electric string, wait for a dry day and prepare a short coax cable and take the Rx outside on an extension lead.

In fact, as @Tururu said, check the existing cable connections first. Could be just a bad connection, or water ingress into the cable.

My Technomate has gone haywire. I have a STAB-USALS HH120 on order. Around £80 inc postage. Technomate aka Taiwan Tin often have trouble moving west.

Out of curiosity do you guys feel the same about the Alsat Dark Motor?
I have gotten the feeling that the TM2600 and the Dark Motor are some of the more popular units (apart from the Stabs) on this site.
It does seem to have some followers, but I seem to remember others not liking it.

Using a Superjack DG2100+ for the last few months as a stop gap situation with no problems,
but going to use HH120 with new Laminas OFC1200 see thread Upgrading Dish System

The motor is supposed to be factory set with 70 East to 70 West limits. Mine was set to 45 East which I only discovered when I went looking for the free Premier League which used to be on 52 East. You have to open up the motor to reset the hardware limit. There is a diagram in this post.

Limit issue technomate tm 2600 sat motor

My 2300 lasted about 7 years and my current 2600 is fine with no sign of rusting.

I have been running a Gibertini 100cm dish for the last 8 years with a Dark Motor for the 1st 3 years then I wanted to extend my arc from 45 east - 45 west so I fitted a STAB100 for extra height now getting 52.5 east to 55.5 west cannot fault this set up very reliable for the last 5 years.

The Stab motor moves slower than the 2600 does, but at least it moves
and yes I did dismantle the sliders on the 2600 but still the same arc,
I guess mine was made during chinese new year party

I'm going to connect the two connectors on the motor together and if it works, then I'll know it's not the cable. I am pretty sure that the motor has gone bad.

My old Stab HH120 worked well with the heavy 1.2m Gibby but was limited to just before 53E at my location, which forced me to upgrade to Moteck 2100 - worked well for years on the same dish.

I agree that the finish on all Moteck clones can be better - it's inexcusable that the paint they use on the mounts is easy chipped by bolts, which then lets all the lovely British rain in and rusts everything. They should be galvanised - I can't imagine it costing much more when done in bulk.

I have a love-hate relationship with Dark Motors. The one I have worked generally well but the Vu+ Uno refused to step-move it, which made fine tuning a pain. Other receivers worked though. I also know of at least one instance where it failed completely and had to be replaced.
