I dont mean any offence when I get my cam updated the guy at the sat shop says a similar thing.

The best example is at lidl when the sat offers are on they are all talking in the que havnt got a clue what they are buying. Like people say 'It gets every Sky channel apart from Sky One' and other things like 'Our Dan got a channel in Portuguese!' and all of them was really impressed in the que.

But if it wasnt for these forums everyone would be lost sky trick people thinking thats the only satellite you can get. Thats what I thought a couple of years ago!

@ mike1, Sky don't trick anyone into believing there is only their satellite, I think you can excuse them for not including the competition in their adverts. ;)

In real terms most people are not interested in the messing around with moving dishes and chance viewing, they want what they want and they want it continuously and in English. They're not interested in hooky cards, programmers, linux receivers, they want something which works first time and everytime.

You also have to remember that there are seven million of them, so the odd ten thousand or so hobbyists are drop in the ocean.

Albanian on 7E was the first channel I watched! Shame I was trying to tune into 1W :(

If you painted your dish green it'd be invisible in your garden. Have you considered getting a windscreen wiper motor from a breakers yard to motorise your dish? :)

Nice custom paintjob jumbuck! By the way, is there a special paint that can be used on dishes that does not effect the signal?

On a steel or alumiium dish almost anything will do, particulalry if it is only a thin layer. On a composite dish, you need to make sure that it has no metalic content whatsoever.

Thanks for the kind remark T_G. I just used the same yellow that I painted the garage doors with, Crown non-drip gloss. The black was ordinary black enamel from a tin that I have had for years, tears of paint over the label so I cannot give a name. It has been posted before that any car spray paint, as long as it is not metallic, will do for painting dishes.

I think this borders on grand thread hijacking, how does the signal reflect on a composite dish onto the LNB?

Well, I say well done.. I had an interest from anout 13 years old. (im 27 now!) Comes with moving to UK (From germany) and not having any german TV.

Back in those days, Sky were installing those masstive old (i think 60" cm) dishes on analogue systems which had to have a seperate decoder on top!

Over the years, i hacked and chopped in to wires to take feeds to diferent rooms and learnt what could and could not be done. Was never able (to this day) get my hands on the dish itself due to its height.!!! Its also still in use daily today!

So, yeah 16" Well done. Keep it up. This stuff will be here for years to come (I hope!)
