It may be useful to know about the four year rule, I have four dishes in my secluded back garden, a neighbour decided after a fence dispute to call in the planning enforcement officer, a very nice officer told me that if I could prove they had been in place for more than four years, then they could stay, fortunately I had conclusive photographic proof with emmbeded dates of 2001. So they stay. Chris

Well done, good to know.

Neighbour disputes can ruin your life - best to try and make up.

Yes, a similar situation may exist with my installation. My neighbours have no objection to my four dishes (fences obscure them anyway), but the imminent arrival of the planning officer next door, where they are going to convert a loft into a second room, will give him a nice view of my 'dish farm'.

I was granted planning permission for the main dish, but the extra ones were added later. But as with SnapperChris, I am ready to furnish similar proof of the date of erection.

Llew i doubt the planning officer would bother to report it if the neighbours aren't bothered about them

Should be no problem as long as neighbours don't complain.

Me for the past 3 years, I have 2 dishes (1.1m and 90cm) by the side of the main road :)

According to the latest rules for planning, http://www.odpm.gov.uk/index.asp?id=1002882&PressNoticeID=1979,
You can have up to a 1m dish and up to a 60cm dish on a propertywithout planning permission. Also you must not be in a conservation area.
Also, yes, you can have two dishes on one pole. Just make sure that the higher dish does not block the line of sight for the lower dish.
