@ electric6, Sorry, missed your post, if you mean what should your reference satellite be, AtlanticBird 5W would be more appropriate.

If you can beg borrow or steal an analogue receiver, you can find the satellite using one of the French analogue channels.

PS. Forget the steal bit. :D

You should be setting the motor body with your lattitude and then you should be able to work out the setting on the dish by consulting the dish setup manual. If you don't have the manual, you set due south roughly with a compass and slowly move the motor azimuth on the pole and elevation on the dish only, until you find 5W.

It's close, but 5W should be the one to go for.

Telecom 2D is at 8W, close, but not ideal, you may get away with driving your motor round to 3 degrees west on its scale and working off 8W, try it ans see. :)

PS. What frequency are you searching on?

When you scan for the satellite, you must use a reference transponder that can be received, if not, then you will not find the satellite. http://www.lyngsat.com/ab3.html you could use the transponder for Globecast, or use an analogue receiver and go for one of the secam channels.

I am also finding difficulty setting up H to H Mount. to find W 1.
Have I set my motor to the angle ( inclonometer ) 39 degress at a location of Bedworth. Coventry. If this is correct should I pick up w 1 with a cheap satellite finder
Thanks
