Can anyone tell me the required dish size for 30 deg west in the North West of England?
I can get 1 deg west on my 80cm but can not get any further west. As the dish moves further west it does move under a protruding roof which could be prooving to be an obstruction.
Thanks in advance for any info.

With bad rain fade taken into account (50% obscurity) most chanels should survive with a 1.2m dish

1m gets you visibility in cloudy weather

I used to get 30west on a 88cm dish in Manchester. Also with the new satellite in operation (Hispasat 1D) the footprint is much more UK friendly.

Agreed but I class Manchester as Middle England

Northwest would be Cumbria/Northumbria/W Yorks

Spanish and Europe footprints do something strange just about half way oop the country as the signal trails off on its Western fringe somewhat

it might be an idea to conduct a small site survey before you buy the bigger dish - using your current dish try to estimate how much of the dish is masked (can not see the proposed satellite.)

Then using a tape measure across your dish you should then be able to confirm approx with a larger dish how much would be lost .you can then follow channel hopper guide as to the best dish size.
