Not convinced that I am getting the most for my Euro 100.00 125cm dish, and still determined to get 2D, I set up my Nokia 78? cm dish again with all the same toys (looking at 19.2°E) just to clear something up.

The difference between the results seems minute.

Clues anyone?

I would have certainly though that a bigger improvement on signal strength would have been achieved, but the quality improvement was impressive.

Perhaps the lack of strength is a slight LNB mismatch.

Used the same LNB?

When you mean mismatched, do you mean - as in an LNB good for one dish might not be good for another?

Thanks for turning the IMG code on :D

Yes, mark, an LNB good for an 85cm dish may not be perfect with a 1,2 metre, in fact many of the 1.2 metre dishes prefer a C120 type LNB, the big dish boys will probably have more information though. Invacom do a C120 0.3 db LNB for a very reasonable price.

Thanks for that. You learn something everyday ;)

Last picture to wonder at.

As you know Berlin is verrükt and at the end of last year, these appeared on the building across the road.

The circle depicts the rough line of site. The building is six storeys high and I live on a second floor apartment 30metres away (for those maths orientated).

Time for the roof, perhaps?

Have Fun,

Not sure what problems the mobile phone transmitter signal will have on the satellite reception, but they certainly wouldn't help if they were directly in the line of sight.

Just found an invacom 0.3dB LNB for Euro 33.00 (same shop where I got my new dish). Don't understand the C120 thing Rolf. I presume its the same LNB though.

Very reasonable price.

Mark.

P.S. For those in Berlin:-

No, not the same I'm afraid Mark, the C120 is a two piece setup, there is the acrual LNB and then a bolt on feedhorn, see below

The first image reminds me of an enema set I saw in 'the' shop the other day. The second image reminds me of my C+B torture kit I wore out a few years back

Any idea of prices?

Presumably they are not sold behind shuttered windows; albeit, they look like they are for the more 'adventurous' sat enthusiasts amongst us :D

Sorry, one glass of chardonnay. ESC day and that :-)

Regards,

Mark.

I think that its about £80 Sterling for the pair, but I'm sure that you can buy them cheaper where you are, these two were from www.satelliteonline.net .

Rolf, you said 'for the pair'.

So it is necessary to have both of those devices you pictured?

Any chance of a quick 'how it all fits together, what its supposed to do, how its better' appraisal? What's special about C120?

I really haven't got a clue :p

Regards in advance,

Mark.

Only if the dish has a matching feedhorn. Most of the reputable dish manufacturers supply a factory matched feedhorn with their dish. This is a feedhorn optimized on the dish after many tests & is guaranteed to "see" most of the reflector surface.

Yes you need both the feedhorn & C120 type LNB.
The feedhorn pictured in rolfw's post is a Channel Master feed optimized for Channel Master dishes.I use one myself on a 120cm CM dish+invacom.
The feed & LNB connect using 4 screws.
The difference between LNB & LNBF (offset type LN:cool: is that,LNBF's have a standard feed built on them, this results in mismatching dish/LNB situations.
With LNB,if the dish has an optimized feed you are guaranteed to get the best out of your LNB.

hope this helps.

I am a total dimwit (auch verrückt) whenit comes to setting up dishes having never done it before. I want to get a 1.8m dish here in Austria to pick up 2D but have noticed the odd looking LNBs on the end. Can anyone tell me in simple terms, the different parts involved and how this is set up.

Regards

Once assembled jno, the C120 will react as a normal one piece LNB, there are only two major parts to it, the body and the feed (give or take a gasket or two).

Make sure that you get the feed appropriate to your dish.
