This mission almost but not quite got the booster bacl to the launch point - one of teh grid fins is reported to have stuck hard over so it was splashed instead of getting it back to the launch pad. Dramatic pics from the landing even though it didnt quite work

I get a ""404 not found"" error on that link, looks like it may have been pulled.

I ballsed up the url - it had a continue from 40 seconds or so addition in - then when I tried to edit it the bloody thing broke completely - should be good now as Ive deleted it & redone it properly.

(Thats my excuse & Im sticking to it!)

At 4.46 in the - working - video below


you can see the first stage begin to rotate, then flatspin, which would be impossible to recover from with the steering jets.

Since it may already have been way off course and almost out of fuel, there would have been a split decision to land wherever was safe, which in this case was the marshes.

Still, most of it is intact.

According to a tween from Elon Musk the splashed first stage was still tranmitting telemetry and presumably its still more or less intact. We have to wait for the official video to be released
