Hi Guys!

Im new here and new to dreaming too!

I hope im not asking a silly question here but how can I connect to my dreambox using my browser or using flashwizard.

Here is my db7000 communications setup

IP = 192.168.2.58

Netmask = 255.255.255.0

Type = LAN

Nameserver = my isp nameserver

Gateway 192.168.2.1 (this is what I would normaly use to connect to my router which works fine)

I have tried the above which to me sounds correct but no way can I connect, I have disarmed my firewall but it will not work!

I have factory reset and tried again but to no avail!

any ideas guys? please...

Thanks
John

Gateway = router IP.

PC and IP are on the same network range and subnet mask?

Are the PC and DB both connected to a router? DB is connected to router using a normal CAT5 cable?

You've ticked the "enable" network setting on the DB in the communication page?

And you have read The Guide?

To view DB in PC broswer: http://192.168.2.58

Can you ping your DB from the PC?

Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks for the Welcome and the Info!

I have read the setup documents
the PC and DB are both connected to the router
"enable" network setting is ticked

Browser http://192.168.2.58 = can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.2.58.

ping 192.168.2.58 = request timed out.

:(

my router is 192.168.2.1 OK

my pc is 192.168.2.100 OK

my other pc is 192.168.2.101 OK

I have changed the cable but it just wont work for me!

are there some other hidden com settings on the DB?

John

ps

I have boxman image in the root which I installed using rs232

Hi dreamdreamer,

In the db comm settings window, tick DHCP, enable network, save and reboot. Go back to that window. If you see everything changed you are ok. Just change the db ip to what you want and untick DHCP. If nothing changed you have no connection to router.

Regards, pcd.

I tried the above but it still doesnt work!...I think it must be my router at fault.

I will try another router next week.

I dont think its the router.

If the DB cant see the WAN and the PC cant see the DB over the LAN I'd be looking at (in order) the ip settings on the DB, the LAN cable, and finally the NIC on the DB.

If you're sure that your ip settings on the db are correct then your next step must be to get yourself a crossover cable and hook the db directly to the pc.

you wont be able to use dhcp for this so use easy settings like 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 on the db and 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 on the pc. dont worry about gateway and dns settings.

Now test by pinging .1 from the pc - if you get a response then blame old network cabe (or hub/switch). If you dont then check that the pc doesnt have software that blocks ping. cos if you dont then your network interface on the db is dead,

I would try swapping some of the CAT5 cables around e.g. plug the DB into the router port that one of the PCs use and try another ping from the other PC. If that doesn't work, try the CAT5 cable from the PC in the Dreambox.

You have "allowed" the Dreambox IP in the router? And to the firewall on your PC?

I did it!!!!!! I reset the router and it now works! there must have been some weird settings somewhere hidden in there. I think it was something to do with port forwarding so some of the ports were in use etc.

anyway thanks to everyone for helping out! :)

OK now its working can anyone recommend some good images?

and what can I decode with this thing?

Iv been looking on google but there is just so much old information.

Thanks again.

Dreamer :)
