Quite a list and plenty of those can be answered by searching the forum :)

Given your location though, I think a decent 1m dish would be required for reliable reception of the usual satellites.

Yes it can be done but not rushed :)

Suggest you spend a couple of weeks searching, reading and asking before you set out to tackle the job.

Not sure a dreambox is the best entry level receiver to start off with, maybe a standard FTA receiver would suit at first.

The Dreamboxes are a hobby in itself. Depends what you wish to achieve with it.
You can use it just for watching FTA programmes, like any other box. but it is an expensive proposition using it just for that. The fun comes later when you dig into its possibilities; I refer you to our extensive Dreambox section ;)

There are many choices available, but to start off with you probably want to keep it simple.

Televes 1m, Triax TD88, Gibertini 1m, etc etc any of these will do.

Moteck sg2100a, Tm2200, Tm2300 no probs with these.

LNB, not too critical, Inverto, Smart Titanium, Technomate, etc

T&K brackets galvanised, size to suit

Scaffold pole- steel, best nice and strong, doesn't sqauash.

wf100 or pf100 (screwfix) - good quality cable.

I agree, not a good idea to start with a Dreambox, the Linux boxes are an acquired taste. Not easy to learn the basics with.

My observations with using a Linux machine so far, are that some things that should be really easy to do are a right pita to do, but others that would be very difficult to do on a standard box, are childs play on a Linux machine, with a good image on it.

I had no experience with Satellites before i joined here, i read a couple of tutorials on installing a dish and setting the motor and i had mine up and running in no time.

I have a Pentra 85cm dish and a DM8000 dreambox, i dont find the linux side of things too hard even though i have never used it before. I now have setup a pc with linux running on it acting as my server.

Just take your time and all will be well.
