It's a very strange case. Other sat receivers also Dm500 and DM7000 can receive the hotbird 12.092 transponder at 83 % level but DM7020 is at 52 %.
My other friends who have DM7020 has the same problem (weak signal) different transponder frequencies. As i said before, there is no problem at DM500 and DM7000. I thought maybe it's a image problem. I installed different images at my DM7020, but signal weakness problem continued. Some of my friend told me that using DM7000 image at DM7020 solves the problem. I installed DM7000 image on my DM7020. Nothing changed :-(
Is there any known tuner problem at DM7020?

The 7000 receivers were reputed to have a weak tuner but Dream changed to more sensitive tuners (I understand the 7020 has more than one) for the new receivers.

Strange - don't understand.

My box is not covered so there is no overheating problem. If it is a overheating problem, the box must show better SNR level when it is cold started, but there is no difference between the cold or warm.

Hi
When you compare the boxes are you fitting them to the same dish at your house. The only way to compare them is to have only one variable, ie the box. If your friends box is at different a place with a different dish then signal strength will be different.

Check for objects in the line of sight of the dish and if it's motorised try stepping it East and West.

Hope this helps

Heh, that 52% number you mention brings back bad memories. Check out my thread. I have a similar problem. Certain transponders for me acorss the 4 feeds I draw in, check my info, will drop from 80% levels to 52% and of course, with it I lose lock and no viewing! I haven't figured it out yet either. I have 3 DB 7020s so thrice the problem!

Should've gone for the Triple Dragon. Good tuner, very sensitive.

I´ve seen the dropping as well Must be something internal messing up

If I do a reboot it is back to normal again (first I try to re-activate the emu )

I wonder if it could be a power supply problem ? I shall remove the HD and see if I can notice any change in this behavior

Hi

I Have got the same problem with my 7020-s
Certain transponders on HB and others eg Multivision, signal drops to 52% BER jumps about from 0 to 560000 or some huge number anyway, no lock no pic have to use my old Nokia 9600!
Tried with the origional software and Gemini 2.20 same result, it's as if the tuner has a flat spot.
Tried posting the problem on Dream multimedias own forum but no reply.
If lots of other people post the same error they may look into it.
The dealer i purchaced it from blames my dish setup (so why does my Nokia work ok on the same dish?)
Anyone noticed if it has the same problem with transponders of a similar frequency on other satellites? that would sugest a tuner problem.

BTW Is anyone who has this problem NOT have a hard drive installed? I am thinking this could cause interferance with the tuner. (If you put a high speed drive in a Manhattan the picture disapears!)

Are you using a switch by any chance? And what LNB you got? Same problem here, check out my thread.

No switch

not even a DiSEqC mount as I use an old Pace 508IP as my positioner so there is nothing between the LNB (Cambridbe 0.6d:cool: and the Rx

I have emailed Dream multimedia support, Lets see if i get a reply!
I would suggest everyone with this problem tries the same.

DM support is shite!

I will not advise anybody to purchase a DM7020 (My experience with a 5620S was good though).

Network problem - Weak tuner
