Any rumour on when the 7025 will be out?

Feel very much relieved to have disposed of my 7020 with its network problems.

The cable tuner in the 7025 is attractive to me, but might consider going back to the good old and reliable 7000.

What are your opinions? My guess - don't buy version 1 of 7025 :-Cbigsmil

What about the tripledragon?

Cheers.

Don't know really, the 7025s is a completely new architecture with the ATI chip design with makes all current images and software redundant available to the Dreambox.

It will take time for it to catch up i think and the receiver is still not available yet so i went with the Relook 400s instead.

The 7000 should be well supported for a long time yet, or dare I say - try another 7020!

Most other folks seem to be OK with it.

I still love my 7000 :D

The dreambox 7020 is 'okay' but not great primarily because of network problems. I had to reboot it 10-50 times to get the network working and I got fed up. In addition the data transfer rate for streaming is very low (I don't use this feature though but I update keys very often e.g. Tps).

Will consider going for 7000 if 7025 shows teething problems. I have been advised that not to go for tripledragon.

Why not and by whom?

I'm sure most people don't have network problems with the 7020. Nobody could live with that :)

Transfering keys is an insignificant amount of data compared with a video stream.

There's pros and cons in considering any of the Linux-based receivers.

A glance at any of the dedicated forums concerned with each receiver is a better indication of the quirks likely to be encountered than hearsay from somebody probably with an axe to grind.

Newer versions of 7020 don't have that problem but I was misfortunate to have bought it second hand.

Agreed with that key update is fact - but you need to have a connection - mine is dead 90% of the time.

On another forum I was told that tripledragon is a passing fad!!

I am a cable enthusiast e.g. dbox2 (in addition to sat) - that's the reason for waiting for the 7025 but might go for the 7000.

My previous 5620S also had similar problem with the 7020S (unlucky twice). I read that both boxes, at least the older version of 7020, used the same network chip.

I have 3 7020s and each box has its own little quirk! One will crash if left on a channel with no signal, the other now doesn't work with the wireless ethernet bridge I bought for em (did for work for months) even though the other box works fine with exactly the same bridge n config! The other box seems to be running ok...fingers crossed...Overall, happy, doing more than I would have imagined when I first bought these boxes, and now my signal issue is resolved, it a joy. Few more things to sort, but I think there will always be something in this game.

So if it's true, the DM7000 is more stable then 7020 ? Like network for ex, etc .. reading from all those posts.
So if I want to get a DM, better to get a 7000 then newer versions .....
Mine 7000 works perfect for a year or so now. Downloading data from HD at approx. 5 MB/sec.

Well the 7000 is a luverly box, but the 7020 does address all its weak points, even if it did introduce some of its own (network). Don't know how true it is that this was resolved with an Ethernet chipset upgrade (don't know much about 7020) but wouldn't be surprised. I did predict rev1 teething troubles after all :D

My advice would be either get a rev4 7000 or a new 7020 and chop it in when the 7025 rev2 comes out ;)

The TD is a fine box, and as it runs Linux and is fully upgradeable, it's certainly not a 'passing fad' any more than the Dreambox.

You can keep an old image going by manually upgrading emus/plugins almost indefinitely, as many current Hydra users will testify!

Good luck, whichever route you take.

I think I will buy the 7000S which is in its 4th or 5th revision now (tried and tested by many)...

I do not want to risk my money on the first version of the 7025 (or 7020 again).

Will not go for triple and reelbox either

Just letting you guys know that I have purchased a NEW dreambox 7000S from dreamboxshop (which was selling on ebay ) for £249 plus £9.90 postage - good deal I guess.

Waiting for delivery.

Will buy the 7025 when it goes in its 3 or 4th revision.
