Am I missing something? it seems very difficult to find a feed on the various forums and actually enter it into the dreambox .Multiple trys to get fec, dvbs or dvbs2 and a couple of more parameters, whereas with technomate no params are needed.
I bought the lowest priced dm(520) to mess with its streaming capabilities which I found good once I knew how.
Is a vuo more forgiving when entering feeds? as I am going to upgrade with either a better Dm or vuo, just trying to decide whether to go with waht I know, or the vuo and hope the feed entry is esaier.

My Vu Duo was pretty much the same with feeds - too many bloody parameters needing adding or changing if you missed one or got one wrong :D

Who cares if the pilot is on or off, but get the wrong one and no pic.

In the VU + DUO2 the blind search works well, you do not have to enter any data.
If the signal is not fuel, it may skip the channel, it is the bad thing of the blind search.
Important, the blind search does not work if you have more than 4 tuner installed in the deco.
It seems that it works, but of 5 minutes, you pass to 60 minutes and in the end it does not find anything (for Astra 19.2ºE).
------

This will let you field through the FEC's and the other parameters very quickly.

My Duo disgraced itself when something on the motherboard failed. So its currently sitting dumped in a cupboard either awaiting a trip to Vipersan for attention next time I'm in the Manchester area or if I lose all faith in it then I'll be slinging in the electronics recycling bin up at the local tip....

That's a shame.

Not buying any more new kit here until something that can intuitively and reliably cope with Multistream becomes available at Yorkshire prices.

The VU+ Duo is known to have problems, also known as the red light of death, but it's also a very easy, and cheap, repair, if it's the same problem.
You just replace the faulty capacitor, cap C807, by snipping the faulty one, near the capacitor, leaving the legs in place, and solder the new one onto these legs, the capacitor itself costs very little.
There are several threads, on the internet, and on the VU+ forum, including this one:

I've had similar thoughts with my Vu+. I find a feed on Satelliweb but its an absolute pain entering it into the box as most feeds on there list FEC as "NC" so its a case of manually checking each one. Then you have to figure out if its DVB-S or DVB-S2.

Does Pilot actually do anything? On my receiver, it's currently set to on permanently. There's been a lot of feeds that I can no longer get, which I could on my Openbox and now I'm wondering if I possibly had to alter the Pilot settings for it.

The majority of feeds are DVB-S2, 8PSK, Pilot On and in more cases than not FEC 3/4. It only takes a few seconds to field through all the FEC's and if none of them light up to try DVB-S and Pilot Off or Auto.

Like I said in Post #4, do this using Setup, Service Searching, Sat Finder. Non Linux receivers only need the frequency, symbol rate, and polarisation, but Enigma 2 just needs a little bit of extra work.

decided to go for dreambox, could someone reccomend a model?, or a comparison website?
will be used for feeds and streaming, not worried about harddrive size but I am going for the fastest processer available.

Many thanks for that, I was on the verge of giving up, but that simplifies the whole process.
