US comms watchdog, the Federal Communications Commission, last week authorised EchoStar to operate a satellite using three DBS channels at the 157-degree orbital location.

The FCC reportedly gave EchoStar 120 days to move its satellite - EchoStar 4 - from its present orbital location to 157 degrees. EchoStar asked the commission for permission to move EchoStar 4, which has experienced a number of anomalies while in service, since it would be easier to operate the satellite's control system and orientation at the far Western location.
