If you were looped through to another box whose LNB settings were active, you may have created Band/Polarity switching conflicts.

Glad you're results have improved :Y

I have an 80cm dish with Inverto Black Ultra Single, and I get enough signal quality on 11509 to get rid of the errors. The 12648 french transponder won't work at all, though.
Note: the Tp on 11512V can make it tricky to set up. Also 8/9 FEC means there is quite a range from the level to get lock and the level to get error free.
For recording multistream the basic stuff works but you can't switch to another channel on the transponder. Also if a timer recording starts while you are watching another channel on the transponder it all goes a bit haywire.

Just saw Edision at a trade show.
This box is using a NationalChip SoC, hence the very competitive price (compared to BCM). But also no Linux distro, sadly.
Dev team in China, headed in Greece.
Friendly chaps, overall.

I was thinking of buying one of these for French TV @5 west. If it can't receive all the French transponders I might be better off buying an Octagon SX88+ if that can receive all French transponders?

The Edision and the Octagon are really very similar apart from the enclosure and the rest of the Edision users in UK have no issue with any of the 5W Multistreams.

It's more likely a limitation of the LNB: timo_w2s did a comparison of single and dual BU in 2013
Black Ultra Twin & Single LNB comparisons
It looks as though the Single is tweaked for the DBS band that ends at 12.5GHz and doesn't work properly in the FSS band from 12.5GHz to 12.75GHz

I get 100% signal quality at 12564MHz then it plummets to nothing.

I intend to get a dual to try...

Thanks, that is worth knowing to avoid the same hassle.

Reading the above, made me test a BU single, works perfect 12.5 and up

Ah, but we want to get the french multistreams on 5W!
Astra1 is so powerful that 3dB loss of sensitivity doesn't matter. I get 100% on that one.

My post was just about that the BU single does work above 12.5 :O) But that said it's not my prefered lnb for difficult signals.

Ain't bigger dish (always) the (real) solution ? No experience with the multi's, but having battled with 28 east for years, after finally getting adequate dish sizes for the job \ location, then any 20 years old lnb gave good reception under all conditions and on any receiver.

Ref your setup "80cm fixed, 4 position switch", would be interesting to hear about results with the dish aligned to 5w and no switch.

Sorry, that's too difficult!
My dish has been there for 18years aimed at 13E with other LNBs offset each way. To get a decent signal for 5W, I grudgingly moved it to aim at 9E.
Now the 11509 multistream is fine, even when it's raining.
The tricky bit is getting the right elevation on all 5 LNBs at once. (I don't use the 9E one apart from aiming the dish.) So I'm not planning to move it again!

When I get the Black Ultra Twin, I will do a comparison with the Single and also an ALPS BSBE8 for reference.

Could you tell me what your "prefered lnb for difficult signals" is, please? It's hard to find reliable information on LNB performance. Thanks.

The 80cm would surely have been fine if 5w was centered, maybe think about a T90, or get a dedicated dish for the most difficult job (5w multi 8\9).

The lnb I resort to everytime it's difficult to get a lock is the minimalistic maximum xo-11, may give a few more %'s here and there (on my dishes\my setups). Seems to not cut out as abruptely as some other lnb's. Ver good, but no revolution compared to bigger dish.

I was hoping to get db signal readings with a couple of other apps, but they weren' t compatible with the Edision.
