Is this the correct way to set the polar mount? - see my pics.

I have calculated that my elevation should be 37.77. My site is Lat 52.23n and Long -0.96w.

Can someone please confirm if this is correct based on my attached file? Also what's the strongest FTA channel on 1w?

Also perhaps this should be adjusted and added by one of the mods to help us newbies?

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

You can find the strongest transponders here...

Yes, your labelled diagram is correct. I can't vouch for the elevation value for your location, and you don't mention a declination figure, but you are on the right lines.

I've no idea how i should calculate the declination? Any ideas?.

I was going to just move the dish up and down until I got the best signal...is this correct?

Thanks all

There are several online calculators to give you the info you require. Also there is a good downloadable one at _http://www.smw.se/smwlink/smwlink.htm.

Other than that, if you are sure you have the elevation set correctly on your polar mount, then yes, waggling the dish adjustment up and down is fine!

Having just one variable is OK; trying to guesstimate two would be suicidal... :)

Find any signal from the dish on 1West, throw a wet towel over half of it and retune the position to regain the signal.

If you get it the second time you should be bang on
