Hi everyone, very impressed with this forum.

I've just bought a Technomate 5500daci, triax 88cm dish and finally this weekend a Technomate hh100.

I've had a go this weekend with some success, managed hotbird, astra1 and astra 2 but it's not tracking as it should, probably because I started at hotbird instead of something nearer to me at 1 degree west.

I've learnt a lot and now want to have another go to hopefully get it right.

A couple of things I'm not sure about :-

1. Rotor elevation - the manual says this is latitude, is this correct ?
2. Dish elevation - the manual says elevation from manufacturer - (60 - latitude), I can't find the manufacturer elevation ?

Hope you can help.

Welcome to the forum:)

Get your lattitude from somewhere like www.heavens-above.com and then set that on the motor body, then just adjust the dish elevation and move the motor mount on the pole for your azimuth. You must set up at your nearest due South satellite or you will really be wasting your time and buying yourself a lot of hassle. :)

Easier said than done !
I've spent an hour or so trying to find Thor 1 degree west.

No response at all from my receiver or my meter.

I set the elavation as 32.5 and also tried other elevations whilst moving it east to west and back.

Any ideas ?

I need to do this myself, and like rolfw said doing it any other way is a waste of time. Since like you, the installer that came and install the motorised system aim it at hotbird and hence I got the same sat as you (minus astra 2). There was a reply to my post the other week, which give you a step by step instructions to how to get it working again. If you follow that, it should work. I haven't tried it yet, cause all my assistance / wife are either ill or on holiday hence have to run the Post Office by myself.

OK, so you have set 52 degrees as the elevation on the body of the motor, according to the book for the SG2100 you then subtract the declination angle of 7.47 for that lattitude from 40 degrees and that should give you the angle to set on your dish for the due south satellite. Not quite sure how that works, as I don't use that method, but give it a try.

PS. make sure that your satellite receiver is tuned to a transponder that you can receive on 1W.

Had another go, set elevation for Thor 1 degree west at 32.5 approx and transponder thor (ku), not a sniff.

Decided to go back to what I had before i.e. hotbird, astra 1 and 2.

Took an age to find hotbird again but did eventually, however I had to set the elevation on the dish at 25 when it should be 32.73 (calculations from satcodx1.com). My rotor elevation is fine at 52 which is my latitude.

I am making a schoolboy error ? the pole is pretty much upright.

On another topic, why do I only get 28 channels on astra 1 when the signal quality is 100% ?

OK, on that basis, go back to 1W with an elevation of say 26/27, that should put you on the spot. :)

Pick a specific transponder on 1W though that can be received, some of them are on a different beam and you may not be able to get. Try. 11325 H 24500 7/8

Thanks, about to try it out.

I don't have those exact settings on my Technomate receiver, the nearest is 11553 H 26000 is that OK ?

Can you edit it ? I couldn't find anything in the manual.

Only two entries on my menu at 1 degree west :-

INT707THO23(C)

INT707THO23(KU)

Each have several options like 11553 H 26000

but none have your exact figures.

Can you add / edit ?

Yes you can add and edit, but not sure how to do it on your receiver, have you looked at the Lyngsat link for another one on there?

Yep, found that with ease.

6 stations all encrypted.

Have locked satellite now and recalculated on motor.

Hotbird, Astra 1 and two found fine.

On first try still unable to locate Hispasat.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks for your help.

No problems, you will also need to make sure that the Hipasat transponder is a current one.
