Hello All,:)
I've just purchased a DM 600 PVR, I've installed a harddrive from a scrapped laptop, the latest gemini image along with some nice plugins and I've playing around with it over the weekend using all those nice apps like DreamBoxEdit, DreamBox Control Centre etc,

My questions are EPG related,
First, In your opinion(s) whats the best plugin for gemini?

I dont have internet access at home (for now) but I'm online daily elswhere.
I was wondering if there is anywhere I can download a file and load it to the Dreambox so that I have a few days worth of EPG data loaded?

If not, is there some frequency I can tune the reciever to so that epg data gets updated?

Regards,
C

Which channels do you have in mind? Sky perhaps?
Not all channels have EPG, and those that have it will only show the present and next event.
Some channels do give few days in advance.
I managed to make an EPG list for BBC Entertainment as pdf file, but you would need to connect the box to the PC and use _http://box IP
See latest current file (in Polish, but should give you an idea about what I am talking about)
http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/cyfrowy-polsat/124144-bbc-entertainment-epg-playlist.html
Just an idea, instead of making this file as pdf, I could have saved it as *.txt and then uploaded it to a new subfolder call it EPG and using the tux commander plugin, you can view it from the box using the blue button > plugins > tux commander and then open the file (pdf file will not open, only text).
Hope that this helps. :)

Just the FTA stuff at the moment.
Thanks for your time and suggestion HB13DISH, .;)

I'll have a look at your suggestion and keep investigating. I'm really looking for something I can use to easily program timed recordings using the EPG instead of setting up time, date etc in the scheduler:).

Have you tried the timer recording of the Dreambox?
In one of the fields it says EPG, so this might help.
I never use it, as I find it more reliable to add at least a quarter of an hour to the begining and the end of the recorded event. This way I don't lose anything.
BUT, if the specific channel that you want to record doesn't send EPG, then nothing can help.

I have, its not working at the minute, I'm thinking it must be looking for epg data in the wrong file or something similar, because it does not even see the now/next data that is available.

I need to read up some on how EPG is transmitted and stored in the DB.

Thanks again HB13DISH,
Regards,
C

Here is something that might help you.
Switch on to a channel that is sending EPG (Current and Next event) and later on to another channel that gives few days ahead.

Let us say you are on Hot Bird 13E, Channel RAI1 (FTA)
Select this channel from the channels list
Click info button while the channel is selected
Popup menu opens Epg Style
Click on Channel EPG
It will open a window with two events.
Select the next event (just select. don't click to open)
Click Dream button (oposite info button on the right
(If you have a different remote, then just see where it is)
A popup menu opens
The third line reads:
add this event as DVR event to timer list
Select it and click OK
It will open the Timer Edit menu
You will see that all the times of beginning and end are nicely typed and should save you some work with typing.
Dont forget to fill in all other fields according to your needs
This was easy
Now open channel BBC Entertainment (Encrypted so it will be a black screen unless you have a subscription.
Then select it from the channels list
Repeat as above
It will open a window with many EPG events
Select one that is on tomorrow
Repeat as above and you will see that it will input the times as shown in the event
If this doesn't work for you, then you probably need to install an EPG plugin. (I use the default in the image, no EPG plugin)
Just report back if it works for you or not.:)
