I am trying to find an HD channel that will transmit the Eurovision Song Contest this Saturday in HD.
I found that Channel France 2 will do it and anyone who has a TNTSAT or BIS card should be able to watch it.
Unfortunately I can't receive it with Astra 1M, but I thought that this might be of interest to anyone who wants a backup channel, just in case.
If you know of any other channel, please share it here.

It'll be on ERT HD on 3.1°E if that's of any use to you? (this is BISS encrypted).

If I remember rightly, some countries actually drop encryption for the Eurovision final so might be worth flicking through the scrambled channels just to see if they've gone temporarily FTA.

Thanks Analoguesat, I will try that.
Few more channels in HD from Hotbird:
Switzerland:
RSI LA 1 HD
SRF 1 HD
Funny thing is that we have channel 1 (IBA) from Amos 4W broadcasting the event, they have the nerve to call it in HD, but I find the quality of video and audio is so bad that I try to look somewhere else instead.

I can't believe it. The 26 finalists songs are all sung in English, even the one from France.
What ever happened to national patriotism?
I was hoping that the Eurovision organizers would change the rules one day and make it mandatory that each country should present their songs in their mother tongue for an added culture about their countries.
Next year, the UK song might have a better chance if it would be sung in French.

Sweden will do well - all the other Nordic countries DNQ so they dont have anyone else from their voting bloc to vote for!

Are you insinuating that because " I´m " out I´ll vote for the neighbours? That would be totally against the ethos of the competition, shirley that does not happen:-rofl2

If you have internet broadband access of at least 4-7 Mbit/s you can get it in almost HD, 720p from SVT/NRK/DR, "IPTV". They are geo-restricted but "accept" x-forward-for headers, at least NRK and DR do. Since I live in Sweden, SVT is not any issue. There are some plugins for different web-browsers I guess. I use livestreamer, Installation — Livestreamer 1.12.2 documentation and it works fine to feed the streams into my tv-server, "tvheadend".

Live DR1 | TV | DR
NRK TV - NRK1 - Direkte
SVT1 | SVT Play

Thanks.
I want the best video quality. Duna HD has 1920 x 1080 which is exactly what I want.
I only hope that the signal stays stable during the event. My Eurobird E9 reception isn't that fantastic.

ERT HD on 3.1°E is 1920x1080 too, I don't know if the signal on that sat would be stronger in Israel?

I don't have a dish pointing in that direction and I doubt if the foot print is available here.

According to Eutelsat's footprints the Europe beam is 47-48dBW in Israel.

Alternatively if 9°E breaks up you could try RIK HD on DVB-T from Cyprus ;) ;)

I received some DVB-T2 channels once from Cypress on a very hot day and it was like that.
I have our local IBA Channel 1 broadcasting the event, but I don't like the quality and they have subtitles all the time which I don't need. Maybe our neighboring countries would find this channel useful.

Isn't France 2 HD now FTA on 5W? They are showing the contest tonight.
