Not sure how you know it has been wiped clean?
Have you reformatted the drive?
What happens when you plug it into a PC or laptop, does the laptop or PC read the drive?

Have you powered down both units as if you pulled the USB without powering down this could be why you are registering zero content. Try powering both down and up again

I moved both units, and accidently unplugged usb from hdd. My instant reaction was to plug it back in QUICK, then i realised it had been wiped clean...

I don't see how an HDD can be erased as the result of a brief interruption.

It'll be a Linux formatted disc, no doubt, about which I know very little except that they are very fussy about shut down procedures. I lost all my recordings on my Humax HDR a few years ago when it got its knickers in a twist when I was deleting (in the proper way) some programmes and trying to record at the same time. The programmes were all gone as even using a Linux reader on the hard disc out of the HUmmy there was nothing.

I would plug it into a PC or a laptop (as advised above) and see what's there. You may need to install a program which will read ext3 (Linux) filing system....

I use Diskinternals Linux Reader _http://www.diskinternals.com/ (bottom of the page) which enables you to read Linux discs without writing to them. Best of luck!

Have you tried any of the suggestions we have given you?! Just because the DM isn't showing any files, don't assume that they are, in fact, "gone".

DM could simply be pointing to the wrong path somewhere internally and not at the HDD at all.

Another thing you could do is telnet to the DM, ensure that the hard drive is mounted and then browse to the mounted path....

This happened to me.

Thought i'd lost everything but I unmounted then mounted HDD again and browsed to the correct path and everything was still there.
