Hi everyone!

Only a few weeks ago I renewed my interest for satellite reception after a few years of almost neglect. I wonder if you could give me a hand here.

I have this ~12 year old 1,2m Nokia prime focus dish with a Visiosat C120 LNB and some 20m teka cable. The motor is as good now as it was new, silent and fast, and since the dish is all made in aluminium it doesn't show its age.

Although the dish is in prime condition, I find it lacking on performance lately. The LNB is about 6 years old and the cables 12, there is no green muck on them or anything worong to the naked eye.

So I ask:
- Is it time to replace the cables?
- Can a new LNB give me better reception? (please recomend one)
- Should I get an amplifier, what kind and how do I fit it?

Thanks.

LNBs have improved in leaps and bounds in the last few years, Invacom, MTI Blueline, Inverto are all popular makes and should make a difference.

Replacing the cable is probably a good idea and not very costly, forget the amplifier, the cable length is nowhere near long enough for one to benefit your reception, in fact it would work the other way and increase noise.
