Morning

As some may have noted from my "weird diseqc.." thread, the Icecrypt STC3250CCIHD that went back to the supplier and could not be fixed because they could not find the problem.

As I also said there, I have several options for replacement and one of them is to get another fairly basic/cheap but flexible Rx - and I'm trying to explore the possibility that someone has something similar that they don't need now.

So does anyone have something for sale for around £40-£60 (+ P&P if necessary) that has the following characteristics:
Essential:
- Decent reliable make/model that is complete and working (decent condition, but "mint" is not an absolute)
- Diseqc 1.0 & 1.1, (and 1.2 /USALS if possible)
- Blindscan (really essential!)
- Working R/C
- Decent channel capacity (3000 min, 6000 preferred)
- Reasonably easy to get up and running and to operate.
- Reasonably complete and up-to-date sat database.
- Good on-screen display options for setting-up
- Operating manual (or pointer to somewhere from where I can download it)

Nice to have but not essential:
- Not Linux (that will come later with something else)
- Programmable 0/12V switch o/p that is not via a SCART socket.
- Twin LNB inputs (loop-through nice but not essential)
- Easy to delete unwanted channels
- Internal, or USB or eSATA, hard-disk recording.
- Wired Ethernet (wireless not needed)
- CAM and card slots of some sort

Thanks in advance

John

PS: if anyone has another Icecrypt like the one I had, but is known to work reliably for Diseqc 1.0 & 1.1 then I would consider buying that because I like the thing.

I know you don't like TMs but I think the 5402 or 5502 are pretty good for what you want. The are single LNB input but the rest is there. The 5403 M3 has the best 3rd party support with nice little add-ons.

I have a friend who has Ferguson Ariva HD Combo that he hasn't used for a long time.
Bought it for him at the time from Ireland.
It has Ethernet connector, but it is not active.
If you are interested, I can ask him if he wants to sell it.

The operating manual is too large to upload here. Let me know if you need a link please.

Thanks

Had a look at the pdf of the Ferguson that you kindly sent me and did a bit of digging - everything seems quite good but I can't see whether it has blindsearch. I'm guessing that it does not but could you confirm one way or the other (if it has then I could be interested).

Thanks for the inputs and the 5402 Mk 3 might do the trick, although, at £90 (£30 + my refund from Turbosat) from WoS at the moment, it's a little more than I was hoping to pay. Will think about it quite seriously if nothing else jumps out of the woodwork very soon.

Hi John,
In the satellite search menu, there is a possibility to do a special search and it will find all the TPs that are not in the default database and will store it for future search.
They don't call it Blind Scan, but I hope that this what you are after.
At least this is how I got all the Amos 4W TPs and their channels.

Thanks - sounds as if it could possibly do the job?

However, where is it actually located at the moment? (asked because of your own location!)

Preferably SD/HD, and not just SD, because it would be a back-up/supplement to whatever else I buy (that one might have to wait a couple of weeks because my "plastic" has been hit very hard this month!)

At the time, I ordered two units, one for myself and the second for my friend, to watch Cyfra+ genuine subscription from Poland.
If my friend wants to keep his receiver, I will try to help you out with mine. I have some valuable recordings and it will take me some time to delete what I don't need. Easier to do it from the receiver.
The recordings are not encrypted, which is great as you can view the files in *.trp extension on your PC.
Need FAT30 format unfortunately.
Both receivers are located in Israel. Shipment charges are not too expensive, but the unit is larger and heavier than what they make these days. I will only know the cost when I ship it and if you are not in a great hurry, I think there is a cheaper shipment method instead of premium, with tracking and registration.
Thank you John for considering this receiver.

Thank you but I think that, in view of the overall time/cost, shipment from Israel would not really be a good idea as I would like to get something locally (or at least from some person or company in the UK).

Thanks again.

No problem John.
If you think this receiver will do what you need, try to find one from Ireland. It was very popular at the time because of the DVB-T2 feature.
Thanks again.

I think I have "solved" the problems of both the "cheap" Rx AND the longer term issue of a Linux Rx by a deal I am working on with our sponsors WoS. Not yet totally sorted because of some "problems" I am having with their website at the moment, but hope to report "good progress" in a couple of days time (albeit spending a lot more money than I had hoped at this time, but hopefully a good deal in the longer term)

Update:

Went over to see the site sponsors, World of Satellite, this morning to pick up a TM-5402 M3 and a VU+ Solo 2 (with 1TB disk & OpenVix) for which they gave me a very good combined price :). I now need to start getting familiar with them, and I'll start with the TM as that is probably the simpler of the two to get to grips with.
